10 second rant

Item listed on ebay. I clicked on "shipping" and it only listed USA. I've had that before so I always inquire and often guys have said they will gladly ship to Canada.

I write "Would you consider shipping to Canada via USPS?"

2 word response "NO CANADA"

Public relations skills ain't what they used to be...

I can't understand people that want to be selective on who they sell too.

I even get it that guys are intimidated by the idea of shipping to a foreign country...

But I just don't get it that a few more words such as "Sorry, US shipping only" or I don't ship to Canada" is not that hard to do.

I've had stuff advertised on Kijiji and had offers that made me want to reply " Are you nuts, I'll crush it before I sell it to you for that amount" but I simply reply something like " No, if that's all it's worth I won't be selling it" or something at least half civilized. I refuse to allow grumpy people drag me down to their level but they sure make me shake my head!

Yes they could be curious about it. But have seen Ebay sales where they ship all over the World except Canada, WTH??
Bad experience I guess.

I say read the response, understand it and move on, who cares? You don't know the person and kijiji is not a social meeting place so forget it. Carl, we hear a lot of these stories from you so it obviously bothers you, I don't know how to counsel you on this, I'm not a touchy-feely guy so that's my best advice, who cares, find what you want elsewhere.

I saw one like that just recently too. I'd never heard of that before. I can't figured the logic on that one!

When I used to use ebay a lot, I'd also see these ads that didn't indicate shipping to Canada, so I'd ask also.  Sometimes they would, sometimes they wouldn't.  If they didn't I'd just move on.  If they were rude, I'd just be glad I didn't have to deal with them anymore.

The online world has certainly moved more towards rudeness than otherwise, and IMHO this board is more the exception than the rule.  Some other boards I read from time to time have a lot of incendiary comments flowing back and forth on a regular basis, to the point where it becomes a waste of time reading it because you don't get anything out of it - you're just reading people bicker with one another.  I think this is mainly due to board management, and I'd like to thank Todd and the mods on this board for keeping this a place where the conversation remains positive.  With all that's going on out there these days, it's nice to come to a place to just talk cars with some good people!  smile
