How are you guys in Calgary doing? Looks like serious weather.

Just watching the news here this morning and looks like some very extreme weather out your way.   Cars half way submerged in water, not good.  Hope you are all well.

Just a few small hail stones down here in the south, but as usual the north end of the city got hammered. Basically anything north of Memorial Drive is in hail alley.

Heard there was some flooding on Deerfoot again, but haven't seen any news reports yet. Our typical June wet season, almost 7 yrs to the day since the big one.

Saw some more reports from the NE corner. Hail stones as big as tennis balls. Ive never ever heard of them that big. Busted out all the windows on many cars plus I can just imagine the body damage. People standing on their vehicles getting rescued on the highway. Siding completely busted off the walls of buildings. One guy said hes been there over 40 years and hes never seen anything like it. Nature can be tough.

Yes, this was bad, but not the first time Calgary has had a bad hit of hail.

July 12 2010 was another bad time. Our research machine shop was in the basement of Science A building.

Leaving work at 4:00 pm and driving along campus road was like

a war zone.Cars in the parking lot with broken windshields, broken tail lights and extensive body damage.

Tree branches lying across cars and the road, and yes the car we went home in was battered, but the glass survived.

Security video captures the destruction caused by the hail all in two plus minutes on the green house on the roof. July 12 2010.
