Glad to hear your wife is okay Bernie. My Cardiologist recommended 2 beers a day or a glass of red wine . He doesn't work weekends.

Carl, I am a great fan of California Reds especially Robert Mondavi Cab Sav Private Selection, not cheap but a great wine.

Buy a large jug of Maria Christina.smile My Mom had her nip before bed every night.

Her body didn't give out (she was on NO medications at the age of 90), it was her mind (Alzheimer's).

I'm also a fan of California Cabernet Sauvignon.  The climate of California allows them to grow grapes that give big bold fruit-forward wines, which I enjoy much more than typical European wines.  I've found some under $15 bottles that were quite good, actually.  I also like some Zinfandels (red) from Sonoma Valley - they can be similarly fruit-forward in flavours as well.
