I have decided to sell the 62. I DO NOT have papers for it. For parts only. Car is pretty solid and complete. Came from Alberta years ago. The frame looks good and the 283 runs. Prefer not to sell parts separate. Included are many parts from a second car. Located in Weymouth Nova Scotia.pice is $1600

BTW, the Carter 2 barrel looks original to me but never seen one on a 283, numbers on the tag are 0123 and 3714S. The car has original paint and everything under the hood looks original, including the master cylinder.

Well I learned something new today, never knew about a Carter 2 barrel on a 283.

That carb was also on a totally original 1958 canadian built chev belair 283, that i built a while back. I supose GM canada might have used the carters up to 1962 from time to time. out of curiosity does this 62 pontiac have staggered bolt valve covers? I know Oshawa used up thier stock until around early 1962.

MY BEAUMONT HAS 4 STUDDED TIRES AND 2 BLOCKHEATERS......AND LOTS OF OIL UNDERNEATH. The other one has a longer roof.
I don't have a good pic of the bolts but from what I have, I'm guessing non staggered, staggered were narrower at the top and that doesn't look the case with these covers. You can easily see the outline of the Pontiac valve cover decal. I'll get a good pic of that when I get it home.
Serial number 27847759XX, body number 7924XX, I'm guessing that is late?

congrats on the purchase Don. There were 3,508 built. Mine was built in January 62 vin is 2784725XXX body number 7251XX so I think your guess that it as built late is pretty accurate. My parts car vin is 27847665XX body 7669xx but no idea when it was built. I put a carb kit in the factory 2 barrel back in 2017 when I bought it and just before I started the restoration but can't remember if it is Carter or Rochester, it's in a storage tote in my shop.
Haven't crawled under it yet but did a bit of poking today. Pulled a valve cover, put a bit of anti freeze in, took almost nothing, no brakes or brake fluid showing- topped it up and no resistance on the pedal at all; stuck a battery in and both interior lights came on; rolled it over on the starter after dropping a bit of oil in the cylinders; poured gas in the carb, it ran out the bottom; checked the studs for tightness and one was rusted off. Found a nice pic of a 62 on the internet. Tried some polish on the front fender.

Needs buffing, that was about 5 minutes and I didn't wash it first.
