Pleasant police exchange the other day

I was cruising along nicely along one of our main streets heading towards down town and there was a police vehicle at a gas station ready to pull into traffic in my direction.  Wasn't speeding so wasn't too concerned and went through the first intersection with him now behind me a few lengths in the next lane.  Keep rolling along and we come up to a red light and my line up to the light is longer than his so I'm  expecting him to be a few car lengths ahead of me.  I get stopped and then I see him stopping right next to me so first thought is I've probably got a brake light out or both.  His passenger window goes down so I roll mine down expecting the news and then he gives me the nicest compliment.  "Man that's a beautiful car."  I realize I'm not driving a hemi cuda so it made my day and with all the flack our local cops here in town have been getting it was a very positive experience.  Funny how something so small as a short sentence like that can put a smile on your face.  I was looking for a Cuda but will keep the Beaumont for now.

LOL, I'd take your Beaumont over any Cuda Jerel....Yes, I know they made hemi Cuda's but they don't do as much for me as a Beaumont SD convert!

I really believe that 99.9% of the LEO's are humans no different than us, great people. It's a tough world for them right now, especially the RCMP after that bloody mess in the east.

Yeah we've got 2 recent cases going here with people getting roughed up pretty good and now with so many surveillance cameras plus if people happen to be around with their phones there isn't much that goes unnoticed. Makes it tough for the good ones.

I've never had a problem with the police ... they have always been very good to me.

I think the big mistake they made here with the killings was they thought they had the guy contained that night. He got lucky and got by them before they were fully set up for containment. I think that was not a bad decision at that moment in time as most times when these mental cases do things, they end up dead at the scene, either suicide or police shootout.

The next morning they knew for an hour or 2 before notifying the public he had a fake car but they may have still thought he was dead. Until they found out about new killings and fires, and he was dead about an hour later. I think they were indecisive after knowing he was alive and running around looking like rcmp but at that time the bureaucracy involved in getting out an amber alert, at the rcmp level and the provincial level, was significant. In hindsight, they had many things they could have done different and Im sure they would agree.

Ive not had any complaints about my contacts with police, but Im not brown or black, I live on a rural low crime area full of old people mostly, and knock on wood, very little crime. I always treat them with respect and am a good whiner about being stopped for speeding. My last ticket was 124 in a 100 just after entering Ontario from Quebec, heading to Ottawa, an airplane. For some reason the ticket was $35, in about 2014. I have firefighter license plates and the OPP officer was very apologetic.

I agree, 99.9% of police are average people and I imagine your Beaumont attracts positive comments all the time. When I got stopped in my el Camino at a road check, they asked me I guess you dont need seatbelts or a motor vehicle inspection on an antique car?
