"1940s dealer sign" seen on kijiji NS

I wonder what dealership it came from?  Looks to be made of wood - is this a standard sign supplied by GM, or would it have been custom made for the dealership?  Just curious, as I don't recall seeing signage like this before.

Looks homemade (shop made). Kind of folk art ... not worth 8 hun.

I agree about the price - plus you can see where he just drove screws through it to attach it to the wall - not sure how it would have been originally attached, though, maybe that's where the original attachment points were?

It looks well made - the curves are smooth, the font consistent, and you can see where it was pieced together from solid boards (not plywood or cheaper/newer construction), which leads me to believe it could have been made by a professional shop (furniture maker, sign maker, etc.).

Dealership photos from that era are not all that plentiful, but from what I can see there didn't appear to be standardized signage in the 1940s, at least not like you would expect to see today.  But... was wondering if anybody on this board knew any more than that about this type of signage - just out of curiosity, really.  I would never cough up 800 clams for it.
