68 Pontiac Full Size - looking for vertical trim piece for beside front license plate

Gang, attached is a photo of the front valance of a 68 Pontiac Parisienne.   Beside the license plate were 2 vertical pieces.  They clamp around the valance on the top, and screw onto the lower front of the valance.    I've only got one, but you can see on the left side of the photo where one was (the paint is shinier there).  I'm looking for another one.

Can anyone help me out?

You may be able to make it from a thin piece of metal than spray paint it with metallic paint. use the other one for the curve shape.

It seems like it was an optional trim piece as a couple 68 owners I've contacted don't have this trim on their cars.

NOT ALL '68'S WILL HAVE THEM, IT WAS AN OPTION. MY GRANDE PARISIENNE HAS THEM AND WERE LISTED ON THE GM DOCS., MY PARISIENNE DID NOT.

Just curious, what are they called on your GM docs?

Was at Flatla Auto Wrecking today but struck out when looking for another guard. I checked out the 68 Safari Estate wagon and Grande Parisienne, but neither was equipped with this option. He then told me of a 68 Laurentian, and while I found it's valance in the rear seat, it too didn't have this elusive option. Bummer.

Thought I'd bring this post up again. Anyone have a spare licence plate guard for a 68 B-body?

I'm pretty sure that my 68 Catalina did not have these trims but I still have the front valence. I'll be going to the storage garage this coming week  I will check to verify if I have the part, and will let you know.

To those that know me, this won't come as much of a surprise.   I'm like a dog with a bone, as I don't give up very easily.

After calling a number of junk-yards and many other places, I found an NOS set in Iowa.    Then, to top things off, I found another NOS set in California.

While I had the part number, I finally pulled the single that I had off the valance and checked the number stamped into it.   As is often the case with the chrome pieces, it didn't match the part #.  The casting # really helped me.

So, here's a set that's on its way to me.   It includes the mounting hardware that's missing in the photo:

And here's another set in California.   It doesn't have any mounting hardware:

I was really just hoping to locate a decent used one, but I came up empty.

No, I'm just doing some wall art.   I have a 68 Grande Parisienne hide-away headlight bumper & valance, a 69 Parisienne bumper & valance, and a 70 Parisienne bumper & valance.   Signal lights and license plates included too.   I'll hang them on the wall of my garage one of these days.

The 68 valance I got only had one of the license plate guards, I had no idea how difficult it would be to make it a pair.

Tenacious. Good for you. Maybe I might even get to see that art ...

I finally got around to putting them on the front valance:

This one shows the license plate holder, plus the 2 holes for the guards:

Now with the guards added:

And the plate:

Last I checked, California Pontiac Restorations had a set of the guards, but no hardware.    They'd be a great addition to a member's 1968 car.
