One to two years is absurd - I can understand those people Ive heard about who give up and go to the US for treatments (not really an option with Covid).
Hopefully they get you in much sooner than that.
Any chance they can install a shunt or drain?
Good luck - Ill be thinking of you!
Because of the fluid build up I have anywhere up to 8 bathroom trips which in reality is a bottle at my bedside. During the day I get 3 or more trips and very little warning of nature call.
We will be finding out the names of 2 doctors next week and will be placing them on speed dial.
The doctor that has been seeing me indicates there is no more she can do for me from Oshawa.
an interesting and informative web site. Both US and Canada
My diagnosis comes under NPH (Normal Pressure Hydrocephalus)
Have been told that if my condition worsens to go directly to St. Michael's Hospital in Toronto to the Emergency Dept. Call the doctor before going.
Had Home Care come in and got a walker and raised toilet seat. They also gave me another walker with a seat on it but I really cant see myself using it.
Had experience with the seated type walker while I was driving patients to their cancer appointments.
Have been pretty much staying at home except for trips the the Abilities Centre in Whitby for exercise programs twice a week. With the Abilities Centre is in lockdown Red Zone I and my grandson will each be working with a personal coach. Limited numbers allowed into the Centre. With my drivers licence suspended I need a personal chauffer!
I have to get my strength back in my lower body and legs.
The Impala got a trip to the car wash at the begining of of the week and will remain underground for now.
There doesnt seem to be a cure at this time. Just have to stay positive. .
Best wishes Cliff and you are right staying positive and hopeful is a great strategy. You obviously have the support of your family and especially Grandson, I know you have talked about him to me personally when we have met so he must be an incredible young man.
On the remote chance you have to head into St. Michael's Hospital I can tell you the Head of the Emergency Dept. is a friend of mine and Dr. Carolyn Snyder is a wonderful physician and she runs a top tier operation there, you would be in terrific caring hands.

Cliff I'm sorry to hear that you have such a long wait time to get the treatment you need. Clearly you are doing everything you can on your own and with your grandson's help. I'm glad you remain positive and I wish you well.
I also want to endorse Ray's comments about St. Michael's hospital's ER department. We had an experience there two years ago while visiting. As we were driving downtown on the way to a theatre production, my daughter suddenly became very ill. She is a stroke survivor so we immediately diverted to the nearest hospital, which happened to be St. Michael's. There she got prompt attention in the ER, and they found and treated the cause, which was a side effect of the stroke. Not only that but the treating physician called us several times both in Toronto and St. John's to follow up, and also put us on to a physician in St. John's for post treatment follow-up.
I cannot say enough about the quality of the care and attention we got at St. Michael's as a result of one necessary visit to the ER. We were indeed in "terrific caring hands", as Ray said; the hospital and its staff are second to none.
Well with the covid close down of the Abilities Centre I was able to work with a company that had a office site at the Abilities Centre close to the Abilities centre that was not affected by the lockdown.
Anyway I was able to continue with my exercise and also got a excellent massage there. My exercise plans are on hold now until I get my next
Toronto appointment Feb 25th.
Info tells me that will take minimum of 2 hours
I have also ordered a new Walker more suited to my size
There is a good possibility that the Abilities Centre will be open next week also
Walking has been almost nonexistent and staying in bed till noon is common..
My grandson has been a help for me
The picture of my avatar was take steps from Old Autos office
I was there on my 75 birthday for the weekend event. Beside the Old Autos building was a metal Stairway to the second floor so I took advantage of getting a good shot.
One of my favourite shots.
The picture of my avatar was taken at Bothwell on the second floor from the escape railing of Old Autos.
Was able to get a good perspective shot.
That was on the weekend of my 75th birthday.

Beautiful shot of a beautiful car. You take care, Cliff, and know that we are all rooting for you!
