RE: An update on my health situation

Got my cortizone injection at lunch time.. Doctor wiggled my ne searching for the right spot then produced a needle as long as my ring finger. .Presto.

. Inserted the needle with no pain.  Cortizone will take a couple of days to set up

Tue at 9.00 am is my discharge date

I will get a letter for The Abilities Centre to continue with a personal trainer even through the covid lockdown.

Good stuff.  I had to take a few days off work when I got my shots, so that I could stay off my feet as much as possible for those days until it took effect.

RE: An update on my health situation THE LAST SUPPER!

Well here we are...

Tomorrow 9.00 am is my departure date.  Found out I have gained 4 lbs with my mucho menu items.

Both my therapists have been very helpful in monitoring my progress and coaching me on standing tall.... I think I gained 2 inches in height.   Learning to keep the Walker close to my body was the hardest due to my long arms.

I appreciated members from coast to coast offering their support and input.

Oh yes  SUPPER20210412_171420.jpg

It has been 6 weeks since my operation and I had to return to St Micheals for a check up.All went well, biggest concern was about if i had any headaches.

None so far.  Headaches are something to worry about.

Walked with the Walker to both appointments in the hospital easily.

Took an Uber from oshawa and had excellent drivers both ways.

Have a June date for the headliner and the Lizard Skin application.

Any one install 3 point seatbelts?

The Impala has the mounting  point in the headliner  area.

 What was used for retractors?

Was transferred to Whitby Hospital to continue my therapy programs.

Will be attending 2 days a  week for 2 half one hour sessions with 2 different therapists focusing on my posture and overall body strength for 12 weeks sessions.

Focus will be on getting my driver's license back.

Train hard, youve got a goal to achieve. Then you can be as excited as when you got your drivers license for the first time and the freedom it offered.

Upate Aug 12 21

I have been making regular progress in my health situation

I had been using a walker to keep my balance and to keep me from face plants..

I have now progressed to walking around the house without the use of the walker.   For extended trips I have reverted back to using my ski poles for walking which gives me the opportunity for a longer stride and I can cover more distance.

I have been attending The Abilities Centre in Whitby for a fitness program with a personal trainer and that has helped me considerably.  For my birthday I purchased and extra 30 one hour sessions.   Sweat equity

I have had a series of visits to St Micheals hospital in Toronto and each time they have done a scan of my brain to determine the amount of fluid on my brain.  Each scan has shown small increments of improvement and an adjustment has been made to the shunt each time.  We are now at the point where there is only one adjustment left.  Each visit my walking abilities have been video taped as a record of my progress.  Thursday I did the test without the ski poles and the doctor was impressed with my progress.

The doctors assistant checks the shunt with a device that can regulate the flow of fluid from the brain into the tube that drains in my stomach.

The next visit is to be in about 4 months after having to go each 6 weeks.  Things are looking up.

At the meeting with the doctors assistant we also discussed getting my drivers licence back.  I will be getting a doctors report emailed to me this weekend and then I can apply to the Ministry for approval.  Apparently it will cost 400.00 for the testing.

One of the exercises my personal trainer has me do is to walk backwards as well as side steps.

I am now booking 2 days a week with the personal trainer and looking forward to increased strength and possibly some weight gain.   I used to weigh 235 and am now down to 193.

Looking forward to some breakfast Poncho meetings.   (once the licence comes back)

have an mp4 video but not sure how to post??????

Great news Cliff. Unfortunately the only way we can show a video on here is if you upload it to Youtube first.

Went to the new Symposium Restaurant for breakfast today.  It is minutes from Hwy 407 in Oshawa at Simcoe St.

The patio has a 44 person capacity and is quite large.

Well its been a while....   My personal coach had some personal family time with the Thanksgiving activities.

I missed about 4 weeks of going to the gym as I still have to rely on my wife for transportation.

Rusted up joints with no ambition to do any workouts.

Not a good plan.... Started back and found one full hour of exercises more than enough for my weakened body.

Even cut back the weight on the Monkey to 20 lbs....  Just couldn't get going.

Mail came the other day and a letter from the Ministry of Transportation about scheduling testing to get my drivers license back.

There was 5 pages of location to call to see if I could even get a booking for testing.

Multiple voice mail messages and Wed got a call to inform me that there next booking would be in 2022.

Cant wait that long!  Been stuck in the recliner toooo looong....

Next day a call is returned and they have a booking for Nov 25....   Is it going to snow before then??????

Booked that date filling in all the necessary forms for the evaluation.  $650.00 payable with a $200.00 deposit

Next day another call returned offering me a Nov 3 date in Toronto or a Nov10 date in Burlington.

Waited another day and no more returned calls although I have been emailing the persons who responded.

CONFIRMED.   WED NOV 3RD         Cancelled Nov 25 and my deposit had not been processed.  Whew...

9.30 AM FOR THE Occupational Therapist assessment then 1.30 pm for the on road test in there dual control vehicle.

Occupational therapist rides in the back seat observing and after the testing they submit the results of the test to MTO.

MTO will read the results and then they will send me a note indicating that my license is reinstated.... fingers crossed.

Will have to leave Oshawa at 6.30 am   Testing, assessment will likely be finished by 3.00 pm.

The Ministry issues a one day licence to the testing centre for my on road tests and I have to find my way there and back.

My wife has her fitness class that day in there is no way in %%%ll that will not get done.

I'm on my own

Been an interesting road.   Looking forward to more trips to the Abilities Centre to beat up on that MONKEY.

Well today was driver test day.

An hour with a physiotherapist doing all kinds of diagram analysis and memory functions.

Passed that barely and on the road test portion one comment about looking to my right more due to being blind in my right eye.

PASSED

NOW....

Wait for MTO  to mail me my licence.....4 to 6 weeks.

Cant drive toll the licence comes in the mail.

Showed the physiotherapist my bus card and the driver examiner.

Conversation started by the driver instructor telling me he has 6 classics

One a 1976 Firebird

Gave him a link to the site and he might check us out.
