"1963 Safety Afloat" from the Canadian Dept of Transport

Do we have any early '60's boat enthusiasts out there that would really be interested in this, or should I drop it off at a local marine dealer?

I find that sort of stuff interesting. The boat looks like a Peterborough and the motor looks like a Gale.

RE: boat number

The registration number on the boat should give a clue as to what part of the country the picture was taken in. Northern Ontario, at least the part I grew up in, was 62E

Dad's boat registration # started with 18E which I think may have been Hamilton Harbor. He periodically went salmon fishing before coming home to shave, putting on his suit & going downtown for work in the morning. He even carried hip-waders & a fishing rod in his car, you know, just in case he saw a nice trout stream. I remember him stopping in at Bronte Creek on his way to Toronto.

Dad is the guy in the plaid shirt without a hat, the other guy is one of dad's many fishing buddies:

Boat Licence Numbers | Pat's Boating in Canada

Ours were always 50E even though they never sailed in Toronto.

Maybe a Bearcat or Homelite 4 stroke?

My dad WAS Red Green. Or at least a reasonable facsimile. wink The real Red Green was played by Steve Smith of Hamilton.

And now back from our regularly scheduled de-rail.

The 1963 Safety Afloat, what sort of stuff does it have in it? Signage, flags, 1963 boating regulations, that sort of stuff? Any pictures to keep this simpleton amused? giggle.gif
