Wicked 79! The description of the 79 goes on to mention that for the price you are basically getting a $5000 car with a $5000 killer engine

I think more realistically you're getting a $2000 car with a $8000 engine.

In 1979 the Catalina was slotted into the Canadian lineup below Laurentian so really took the spot of the old Strato Chief. In the USA there was only the Bonneville and Catalina. Either way the bottom of the line car with the big block is a scary and stealthy combo.
