He seemed like a genuinely nice guy (I never met him on the ice though). Quite the self-deprecating promoter for his non-hockey interests. I mean, using your generous nose to be the catchphrase of a campaign shows his sense of humor. Used to own a Plymouth Prowler.

Quite the ambassador for hockey especially the old timers. He crossed the country many times to appear with his old NHL buddies at any rink that would invite them and they would put on their show and have a few pops.

Eddie had a "Nose for value" as he always said in his commercials. He did always come across as being a decent fun loving kind of guy.
