That is a great development, seems like a logical and well thought out product and with millions of these vehicles still in use I am sure a welcome and affordable option to owners.

Unlike the Targetmaster which was a re-manufactured engine, this small block 350 is a new casting of an engine line that I think started to die out after 1996. Who'd a thunk it? Fresh everything. Lifter bores, water jackets, deck, etc...

 

This is certainly ironic today since many rodders are singing the praises of the LS engines. With a commitment like that it sounds like the SBC isn't gone yet even after 65 years.

It would be a very good starting point for a decent build...but after you wear it out!

Wonder what the numbers would be? 260hp?

Starting with the 265 in 1955, the sbc must be over 100 million now? I guess GM are not expecting electrics to take over any time soon? Next will be a bolt in electric motor to replace sbcs?
