1969 Beaumont Convertible Kijiji Red Deer AB

A really nice looking car, love the color. Anyone one here know the car?

Didnt research yet but was 396 available in non SD car?

I phoned to find out info and price, but just got answering machine.

Would give up the Camaro in a heartbeat for this.

The Beaumont convertible looks very nice. Red interior is very desirable IMO.

Talked to the seller early this evening and sounds like a nice car guy, just not super knowledgeable on Beaumonts.

According to him the car was passed through a couple family members with granny as the original owner. Unfortunately someone bumped into it with a quad recently so he is currently having front fender re&red and painted, I didn't have heart to tell him a Chevelle one is not 100% same so hopefully his body guy figures it out. That meant he couldnt send me trim tag, engine bay, chassis pics etc as car is in shop for a few days.

He thought drivetrain was original but I mentioned I didnt think 396/T400/12 bolt combo was available in Custom trim. Again he admitted he wasnt a Beaumont guy but said car is in great shape, new carb, dual exhaust etc. frame is under coated but all rust free etc and paint was very nice too. He sent me a pic of the Protecto Plate where I hoped I could read some options but it was too blurry. Does paint look like it could be stock color like Maroon Metallic? He felt interior was 9/10 and top appeared new as well.

Hes asking $35,000 which seems a bit on the steep side (I sold mine 4 years ago for $10K less but in hindsight felt it went a bit low) but maybe open to offers? Thoughts? I would need out of province inspection so I would need to consider that as they check very thoroughly including windshield chips.

If I get more serious I would pay for someones time to have s look, if anyone was local. Im off for a couple weeks so I could drive out to pick it up if it all worked out.

Alternately, If someone else is able to view and possibly purchase sooner hopefully my info helps.

If that engine callout on the fender says 396 , it came from a Pontiac since Beaumont did not offer  396 unless it was an SD396.

Need the historic documents on this one. The seller has an answer for everything and sends fuzzy pics. Youd need the engine DNA etc but potentially this is not what is being presented?

I had always understood the 396 was only available as part of an SD396 package, one of which I considered buying back around 2000.

I admit that I never paid a lot of attention to the Beaumont before then, but because of the model cutoff in 1969 and the relative rarity as a result, I now find them very appealing. Especially in green.

Nice looking car but who advertises a car when it is in the body shop, and unable to view or test drive. Seems like a situation where you need to be cautious.

Need to see pic's of the stamp pad. That'll tell the whole story. I'm guessing the more common Camaro/Chevelle 396 transplant.

Thanks for everyones comments, agree with everyones points. I think he is a friend of the family and just stated that it was owned for 40 years due it being owned by a couple females most of its life. I did check after as well and reconfirmed 396 only available in the SD too. I mentioned to him about obtaining the GM VVS docs too as may help with selling. I thought it was a bit odd too that he advertised before getting the fender fix and certainly not defending him but he seemed genuine just not overly up to speed on the details, nor how to list/explain things adequately when selling a car. I guess time will tell once he gets car back and can send the detailed pics I asked for.
Thanks again for taking time to respond!

The car was originally a 307, you can see the emblem on the fender.

Good eye, I didn't zoom in on that one photo. That just reconfirms that the 396 certainly isn't original as its not a SD.  That said originality not a huge concern for me.

I asked that he let me know when he had car back in his possession but never heard back. Now I see ad has been deleted, maybe for the best that I just leave it alone as others pointed out it had a few red flags. If someone else on here purchased it I would be interested to know.
