1984 Hurst Olds. Halifax

Not running but clean otherwise. Hagerty values this car in excellent condition at $21k USD so if it's just a timing chain and nothing else damaged (plus AC reinstalled) it may be a good buy.

https://www.kijiji.ca/v-classic-cars/city-of-halifax/crippled-hurst-olds/1516862961

This is a really nice car with a problem. I am 99% sure the timing chain/gear is gone and health issues won’t allow me the energy to fix it. This is 1 of 90 Canadian cars with a “T” roof, it is valued at $25,000 (I have $20,000 into it) by Haggerty, what am I offered?

It is as equipped from the factory, 307 HO, 200r4 trans, 3.73 posi rear, electric windows, trunk, antenna, am/fm/cassette, cruise control and a/c (,compressor removed but goes with car) lots of new stuff installed recently.

My bottom line is $10,000 for those of you who are asking.

email or 902-477-7110 ask for."..........Don

I agree, love those Hursts. Funny thing is, I knew a "Don" from Winnipeg who bought one brand new but I doubt it's the same Don in the ad...

A great opportunity to re-power. It is a sharp looking car though, there was always something about a Cutlass.

Was this a common failure on the 307? I don't know much about Olds motors.

Good deal, easy fix if the motor has not been damaged....cry

Agree with Ray, great opportunity to do a swap to a 350 Chev or possible BBC......biggrin

C'mon you guys, that's a nice original car. How could you start modifying it???

The 307 in that car is somewhat special as I recall.

Neat part about those cars is they got the same rearend as the Grand National, an 8 1/2" vs. the 7 1/2" diff that the Grand Prix Aerocoupe and the Monte SS got. And the Hurst has 3.73's, better yet.

Too collectible IMHO to swap motors. We can do that to a regular Cutlass.

Haha, can always save the original 307 under the workbench for the next owner.

Nobody would ever change it back once they drove it with an LS.

Kind of like putting a 283 back in once the 427 was in the car.

This would be a cheap fix for this car.

May be special Carl but we bought a new 1987 442 with the 307 and it wasn't great. Car ran fine but not very fast.....cry

This isn't our car but it is similar - I think one of the nicest 80's GM ever made....

Agreed. 16 second 1/4 miles are nothing to brag about but the Hursts and the 442's sure were good looking cars.

There used to be a guy around here with a mint low mileage twin to your picture. I'd forgotten all about it. I wonder if he still has it.....

That 307 HO just didn't have its heart in it, wasn't well thought through like the L69 in the Monte Carlo SS or the Turbo 3.8 in the GN.

I'd have to wonder what a 403 from a Formula or Trans Am would do in this car, I'm all for keeping it Olds and Stealthy, no one would be the wiser when the hood was opened.
