so i finally starting to do some work on the 67 beaumont now that the gto is done. while replacing a floor pan i noticed a thick rubbery coating (about 1/8" thick) on parts of the frame, thought maybe somebody sprayed something on it over the years, but when i crawled under the car 1 noticed the very bottom of the rockers were covered in this too. when i peeled it off the paint was the factory paint and looks like it was painted yesterday and still has a high gloss. so this makes me think that this had to be sprayed at the factory. was wondering if anybody knows if the factory sprayed undercoating on these cars back in 67. also the paint is white(original) and not a hint of rust on the bottom of the rockers, whatever it was it was amazing stuff to protect the rockers for 53 years
The bottom of my 69 was sprayed behind and in front of the rear wheels on the floor, but nothing on the bottom of the rocker panels. The material was the same as what is sprayed in the wheel house as a sound deadener and was definitely done at the factory before the body was installed on the chassis. When I restored the car I researched and found out is was sprayable seam sealer, I able to touch up some spots where it had flaked off in a few places. Also used it when I put the new door skins on to reproduce that sound deadener as well. Seam sealer is more flexible than an undercoating, when it is new it has a rubber texture, maybe the same on your 67.

yeah this stuff has a rubber texture and is very flexible, would like to get some of the stuff you used on your car, do you remember the brand name or where you got it
