Detail looks pretty good for a Matchbox die cast. I wonder if it's been updated.

Nice.  I'll have to pick one up if I see one in the store (next time I'm actually in a store...).

I had a purple one of those Matchbox Grand Prixs back in '72. It had Speedwheels (Matchbox name for mags). Prior to that they came without Speedwheels & were painted orange.

Actually they were called "Superfast" wheels.

I knew they had a name for them, Todd. I just got confused as to which was which. Everybody had a name for their own versions. Mags & easy rolling were now the new thing, after Hot Wheels got everybody seeing that way. I guess time has muddied the names.

Maybe I was thinking of Corgi Toys or something. Just a second, let me go back to my childhood & check. wink

If I don't come back, assume I'm playing with my childhood toys.

Question is, could a Superfast beat a Hotwheel on the orange Mattel track. Or do we need to be on the yellow matchbox track?

Hmmm.. good question. lol. All I had as a kid was Hot Wheels track and I seem to recall the early Superfast cars were just as fast as the Hotwheels models from that era.

I have an original red one on the dash of my 64 CS. It even has a trailer hitch too.
