"Wink" mirror

Has anyone used a "Wink" type mirror on their car? The wide one that shows all the rear angles of view.

If it is the one i think it is, Canadian Tire use to sell them back in the 1960's.

RE: Wink Mirror

I have driven a car with one years ago, didn't like it at all, very confusing with all the different views, & hoped it was the same car in all sections!!!!

RE: "Wink" mirror

Welcome to page 86 of the 1969 Spring & Summer Canadian Tire Catalogue.

69 CTC mirrors.jpg

One has to remember that few cars had right-hand mirrors back then so this was an attempt to cover all the angles.

About 2 blocks from me (here we go again...) back in the 70's was a Mist Blue 1966 Laurentian Safari that belonged to a McMaster professor. The car had the full-width "wink" mirror on it. Personally I would go crazy with the multi-angle glare that could come at you from all angles. BTW, the '66 Laurentian was traded in 1975 for a new Parisienne Brougham sedan, which he owned until his death around 1994.

Yep, that is it at the bottom. I never had one but i can see Pete's views on it being very confusing to the driver. Just another hokey gimmick that never caught on.
