Hello from Spirit River Alberta

Hey everyone, Just bought a (new to me) 1948 Pontiac Canadian model. Says it's a "22-19" I don't know what the actual model name would be? The engine had been stuck, but the previous owner managed to free it up, so now I've just got to get it running again!

Welcome aboard! According to my resources a 22-19 is a Fleetleader 4dr sedan. Base price was $1788. Weight 3365lb. VIN should start with 82219. Do you have any photos?

It says Silver Streak on the side of the hood, and as I've been reading most or all Canadian ones were sixes(?)

The other car parked beside it is my buddy's 52 Plymouth Cranbrook that I'm helping him restore.

Welcome to the site
Looks like you have a real good project, your options are endless, your car is complete and looks great !
We have a 1950 2 door Silver Streak, model 22-07 , completely overhaul, made lots of mistakes, learned a lot, not true , got to improve the steering and A/c , leaves room for improvement.
good luck with your project
Dale

Thanks! I'm looking forward to getting to work on it! I plan to keep it as original as possible. I've heard they're "slow" and underpowered, but I'll be happy just to drive it

Well not to debate the issue of slow and underpowered , but the Flat Head Six in a 1950 I know something about. I recently rebuilt the 239 in my wife's 1950 Silver Streak. I won't talk about the bhp and torque values there in the book. However, I will comment on the final product in my wife's car. I changed the rear end in her car to a GM 8.2 differential and the gears are 3.23:1 and to say the least I am impressed. The car can easily hit 70 mph on the highway and for most hills I don't have to down shift there is lots of low end torque to climb 10 % grades.
Just MHO, It's all about what you want to do with your car .
