It is very interesting that so far no one has mentioned any Pontiac's and there seems to be more Ford's and Mopar's on the wish list than GM cars. Very interesting.

There are so many Pontiacs I'd also like to have, and if you asked me on a different day my first choice might have been a 61 or 62 Catalina 2 door. It's actually hard to choose just one favorite when there are tens of cars I like from 1955-1975. I guess it's a good thing that I don't have the resources for a huge collection.

That sums it up for me as well.  I love Canadian Pontiacs (and Beaumonts, etc.), but there is so much more out there to love.

I've also said that it's a good thing I don't have huge money - there would be warehouses involved... biggrin

Seeing as I already have the 1 that I will likely have until I die, been 30 years so far, my 65 Impala SS,

Dan65.jpg

There are many cars I would like to see if I could live with, but to pick one that I am pretty sure I could other than the 65 would be a 69 Beaumont Conv, SD 396 4 speed tribute 1 of none.

Something like this,

69beauconv.jpg

Either silver with red, or the darker grey metallic with blue like the hardtop I had many moons ago.

I'll second that motion as well. That car was Triple black. Don't ask me how I know but I just do.

Is it documented that there was actually one Z16 Convertible of the 201 cars produced?

The Z16 "experts" claim that but I'm not sure if there's proof on paper.

For me it would be a 1960 Pontiac, a Canadian Car not a fake US built car! It would be a convertible with a 348 three on the wheel. Maroon with red and maroon interior.

Pascal, my cousin on Vancouver Island has one coming up for sale but I think one year newer. He is the original owner  out of central Alberta. 455 HO, 4 speed but needing some work done too it. I forget the color, black or navy I think as I havent seen it for 5+ years or so.

I'm surprised so far no-one has mentioned a 1962 super duty Pontiac: https://www.hemmings.com/stories/article/barely-legal-1962-pontiac-super-duty

Not a car you'd want to use every day though.

If it had to be a performance car, and despite me being a GM man through and through it would be very hard to go past a 1969 Dodge Charger with 426 Hemi. However I'll stay true to GM and this would be my pick: a 1970 RS/Z28 in silver or orange or a nice colour like that. If I had to drive it everyday then make it auto with air.

A few years ago while I was surfing the internet I came across a site that had all of the 201 VIN's of Z-16's and low and behold a convertible was in the list. It was a Triple Black car. For the life of me I cannot seem to find that site. So yes there was one built. They had a short run of maybe 4-6 weeks in Feb-Mar of '65 and were all built in Kansas. Very hard car to clone authentically. All were built on a boxed convertible frames, all were 4 speeds-M20's- only 3 colors- Red,Black, Yellow. The 12 bolts were shortened Impala diff's. Hence the bigger bolt pattern. Stamp pad on the 396 was "IX". '65 only to use that designation.......

The first Z16 Chevelle was built in Baltimore and started out as a 327 car. It was a prototype modified by GM engineering and had specific parts made for it. I read an article years ago that when found it was thought to be a clone because it didnt have a convertible frame. It wasnt until that it was taken apart that some parts were stamped with prototype or special that it was researched further. I seem to remember that the moulding on the trunk lid was a heavy casting and a lot heavier than the production part.

sold for $335,000

I still have my forever car. My 67 Toronado. I bought it from Wilson Niblet late 1967. Not only my favorite car, but I think the design and engineering is still way ahead of its time. It has been everywhere too, 20 plus trips to Florida, our West coast, England and France in {1973}. It has pulled all my boats Race and personal Still runs like a dream.

I can't answer this one. I've pondered it for the past few days...........I'm a car whore. There are elements of so many vehicles that I like and desire but not one that is the embodiment of the collective list.

I always liked the 67-69 Coronet especially the RT and the Super Bee. The 70 model did not really appeal to me but I've had a change of opinion. Now I think they look really good, especially an RT in the right color. I'd certainly consider buying one if I was in the market for another old car.

I think that is one of Mopar's most beautiful cars. Hands down. If I were in the market I'd have one sitting in the garage- perferably with a 440-6 pak bench seat Pistol grip. A fella can dream........

I'll take one in code 43-43 w/black stripes. Perferably a '71 M22 Z/28. Only 1209 were produced. No 12 bolt that year as well. And I'm a Mopar guy.

1971 are nice too, but 1970 is the pick of the sbc engines. I wouldn't mind any colour, just not green. I hate green cars! Especially with green trim. Here you go:

Nice car but I'm partial to the code 43 Citrus Green and has to have an M22. Harder to come by than a run of the mill M21 car. I would still take this one though........

For me it will always be the 1957 Chevrolet Nomad station wagon. I wish i could post a picture on here to show some of the folks that are not too keen on the car, what it looks like. That is a vintage classic car that i would be proud to die with. smile

Here is the Australian equivalent of a 1971 Camaro/Firebird. Holden HQ GTS and GTS350. GTS350 driveline was L48, M20 (Muncie) and 3.08 10-bolt. Unfortunately the US L48 lost a lot of HP for 1971, so we got the same engine. The GTS350 in the 1970 variant (different shape) was the 300hp L48 engine. We believe the HQ was a cancelled US vehicle, possibly 1970 Beaumont. This would have been the short wheel base coupe variant of whatever the car design originated as. Both images straight off the 'web via Google.

Our 1962 Corvette.......bought it in 1982 and sold in a weak moment in 2010, still regret that sale.

Car was a driver but took it everywhere including NCRS event in Normal, Illinois (1984) with a pregnant wife......biggrin

IMHO a 62 white Vette is the best looking car ever produced.....imagine a Corvette with a usable trunk.

Our cat Rusty liked to sleep in the foot well, here he is heading for a nap......smile
