Um, maybe first in Ontario biggrin

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ZENN

ZENN (Zero Emission, NNoise) is a two-seat battery electric vehicle that was produced by the ZENN Motor Company of Canada from 2006 to 2010, designed to qualify as a neighborhood electric vehicle (NEV). It had a range of up to 40 mi (64 km) and was speed-limited to 25 mph (40 km/h). On earlier production models, there was an option of a 'Discovery Pack' which increased the ZENN's range a few miles. In later models it was standard.

In September 2009 CEO Ian Clifford announced that ZENN was ceasing car production to concentrate on selling its drive-train technology to other manufacturers. The company had only sold a total of 500 vehicles and cited slow sales as a reason for the decision.[1] Production of the ZENN LSV ceased on March 2010, and service support and provision of parts ended on June 30, 2013.[2]

Zenn was built in Ontario but......

The Ontario Ministry of Transportation ordered studies of low-speed electric cars to see if they are safe for public roads.

The government has been testing the vehicles in parks across the province since 2006.

Until the studies are complete, as late as 2011, Zenns will be off limits in Canadas most populous province.

We want low-speed electric vehicles on our roads, and we are looking at how it can be done safely,

Transportation Minister Jim Bradley said in a statement announcing the new research.

Small electric cars like the Zenn typically meet only three of 40 safety standards

required of regular passenger cars for brakes, bumpers and other components or functions,

said Emna Dhahak, a spokeswoman for the Ministry of Transportation in Toronto.

Now George, I've been the harsh poster so far this week but all I can say in response to your post is I am so happy that I bought a 420 HP 383 ft-Lb high octane gasoline sucking 11.8:1 compression ratio dual overhead cam 4 valve V8 automobile last week. It might be my last at the way things are going.

I Can not see myself going electric EVER!! range is too short, towing ? likely out of the question!! these vehicles seem to be for city driving, but living outside of those areas, not practical for me. How would I ever do my trips to West Virginia [ if borders ever open] without taking days to get there, waiting for vehicle to charge back up if infrastructure is in place to do it??? I don't think I could make it to Toronto & back in all electric vehicle!! Would have to be a Hy bred and they won't tow car trailer [ I think?] @ 6000 lbs with car on it.

I think it would be hilarious to have a silly fart bubble of an E car to run errands around town. And I wouldn't need to ever apologize or feel embarrassed, as I have something at the opposite end of the spectrum anyways.

I'd buy one if I was flush with cash and in the market for a new car. Many of these new EV's will do 500+km. I can live with that. Not many of us have a bladder that would last 500km so you're going to need to stop to pee while on a road trip (or to eat) and there are already enough places to charge while you grab a bite to eat. Many chargers will give a car 80% range in 20 minutes. Quite a few hotels now have EV chargers. I predict in 5 years there will be EV's that will tow thousands of pounds and will be able to go at least 600k doing it.

Slightly OT...

Amazon believes in EVs enough to invest heavily in them: https://www.caranddriver.com/news/a34315562/amazon-rivian-electric-van-prototype-revealed/

Amazon does not typically make bad business decisions...

I have yet to see a charging station [ not to say there not there] but how far apart they are would be the issue for "long haul" trips? Haven't seen any on trips south at rest areas on interstate nor at hotel area we stay at in PA.  I'll stick with the Yukon for towing  or drive the wagon to West Virginia when we get back to traveling?
