My coupes's original owner (my Dad) passed away in '96, but the original owner of my 69 427 4-speed 2+2 convertible made it all the way until last fall, but unfortunately has passed away:
I feel pretty blessed to have tracked him down in the first place, and kept him apprised of the car and its progress over the last couple of years, and he was always interested. Started out a bit rocky, and I was really scared to bother him about a car he'd owned 40 years ago. But eventually he said "I'm not a skittish deer, you can ask questions" or something like that, and then it was easier!
The original owner of my truck passing away was how I wound up with my truck, but I did get in touch (later) with the family and exchange photos and so on so I have delivery day photos of it, which is awesome!
Sorry to hear. Shame he'll not see it, but at least he knew it was in the best hands possible for the task.
