64 Parisienne factory 4 speed at auction

There's a number of things a guy would need to buy this car and give it what it deserves. I have all those things except one key ingredient.........space to do it.

To be sure there are guys out there (and here) that would laugh at this. It would be an easy go for them.

The tach came standard with the 300hp 4 speed and 409 in chevies, as did dual exhaust. Not sure you could get a 4 speed 250hp. I wonder if CP was the same.

That tapered snout black air cleaner looks like one from a Chevy. Chevies were all a flat pan on the bottom with the top and sides one piece. CP Ive seen had the flat pan on top and the base included the vertical sides. Various GM air cleaners were like that Chevy one with the dimples on top but some years had different numbers of dimples.

Someone needs to get their eyes on this 64, very rare car with all those options. It doesnt appear badly rotted in all the normal places. Auction prices are hard to guess, depends on whos bidding. Could go for $2,000 or $8,000, or anywhere in between.

 I do also.

NO inside trunk pictures, and judging by the outside pictures (the shape of the rockers, lower fenders/quarter panels) the trunk would be mess and likely the frame behind the rear wheels.

Not to mention, how is the engine?

I saw there was a Pontiac tach in another lot at the same sale. Think it has a $5 bid on it.

Interesting, the U75 power antenna code moved up a line into the "trim" line. I've never seen one like that before. Does anyone else have a tag that has an option on other than the bottom line? I've also never seen one where they put a rivet through another option code! After U63 is something else, but it's just U"rivet"!

TMI existed in 64, quite a tag.

I strongly suspect that the U followed by the rivet is really U80 (auxiliary rear speaker). One can see the speaker switch on the dash as well as the chrome grille on the back seat. It is somewhat interesting that my Vintage Vehicle Services documents for my '64 CS ragtop has a code P65 (Tire: 7.75-14-4 PR-HWY) whereas the advertised one is listed as P79, 8.25-14-4.

U80 would sure make sense. Have you ever seen a tag like this, overloaded, moved an option up and punched a hole in another one?

"Fuelie" heads as well? I would assume they wouldn't give it the 300 horse rating with the 283 heads. That's what the 250 horse had, right?

250 had the power pack heads with the triangle same as a 283, 300 had camel humps in these years. 62 was the first year for camel humps, on the 327, the pp heads go back to the higher hp 283s, in at least as far back as 57. Fuel or heads were likely the pp head when the FI came out in 1957, but may have had bigger valves for FI. FI were camel humps after the camel humps came out, FI only available in the vette after 59 FI in full size.

The GM document does not show tach as an option. Should it? Brian do your documents show it?

If it was standard on a 327 4 speed, maybe its not shown as an option?

No, Darryl, my GM documents make no mention of the tachometer whatsoever. There is not even a code for it on my sheet. My CS originally had the 300 HP 327. I suspect that Don may well be correct is suggesting that it is not shown as an option because it came standard with a 327 4 speed. Over the course of my 45 years of owning this car, I have seen only 2 other factory CS 4 speeds in person. Both had tachs. In addition, my buddy owned a '64 Parisienne with the bench seat and 4 speed, complete with tach.

I still think there's a bit more in it than 4K. Such a rare piece. I'd love to own it...
