B body rear end pro question

my question is 3 and 4 link, are the rear end housing the same or not?

I'd think basically they're the same, with the 3 link missing the bracket for that absent upper control arm.

Yes, just weld bracket 4 on to the 3 link housing.

I met a guy from Burlington once, his name escapes me now. I'll ask my mom as I think she was with me. He could well have already been into big blocks.

When I installed the 12 bolt in my '66 Chief i had the upper bracketry fabricated at a welding shop I use to work at. It was simple. Square HSS tubing cut in half then drilled for the upper link bar. Easy peasy-Japenesee.......

The 427 car? You must have the documents for it. Does it have F40?

I would suspect so but it seems there are exceptions. Some guys say all the big blocks are 4 arms but I don't think that's true. It seems to be true that all F40's are 4 arm though.

I sent you a PM with contact info for a guy who has a great deal on a 12 bolt posi but distance might be an issue. He's not close to you. Maybe we have a member here who is close to him who may be able to help you though. The price does seem almost too good to be true though.

Just a nugget of aussie info. All aussie sold 65-68 RHD parisienne and impala had F40 4 link rear ends, either 283 or 327 with glides.

If say this Burlington fellow was gonna weld brackets anyways why not go with a ford 8.8? Disc brakes, limited slip and a variety of gear ratios available? I think Ive seen him pushing a miller welder around but that could be a rumor! Kinda like big foot some say

The only 3 leg I've seen was on my 65. A six car with a PG. Basic and bottom of the barrel. Funny, but to me, the fact that it had the 3 is rare in itself.

Show me a V8 with a 3. Never seen it.

Both my 65's are 3 arm, 10 bolts, both born 283 glide cars, and the 65 CS I got the frame from was also 10 bolt 3 arm likely a 283 glide as well. I always thought it was 3 arm=10 bolt, 4 arm=12 bolt, that's the only way I have seen them.

My buddy here with a 66 impala ss, 327 powerglide, had a 10 bolt in it with the 4 arm from factory. He said it was rare. He just dropped a 348 stroker in the car, 700R4, and a 12 bolt posi.
