How often did u get your Poncho out this year???

Well........car has collector plates on it but still only managed to get her out about 10 times this year and one of the times was only  2 blocks away to a car meet at the local high school!!no  Hope you all had a better year at cruising than I did.....  Think I am going to name her "Pog"  (poor old girl).   57 didn't even get insured this year!  Just me or are your guys/gals cars sitting a bit more this year?

Drove my LeMans about  6 to 10 times, never more than 30 minutes away.  Used my Corvette as my daily May through September. Had three rad and heater hoses go though.

A couple of them a couple of times the others did not leave the garage. We have some real nice weather coming back next week but with the weather we had last night no doubt they laid the salt to the roads

Had the silver boat out several times earlier in the year but she's been stuck on stands for more than three months now. Original 2 into 1 downpipes almost completely fell apart at the join so not roadworthy. Magnaflow dual pipe to the rescue, once I've managed to remove the last 4 rusty crusty pipe to header nuts...............

My 409 doesnt go real far on a tank of gas, still have a quarter tank left from last fall....... I do have stabilizer in there. Built a new house and garage, worked on them both plus yard work all year. Just finishing a new deck, a wraparound thats 56 ft long.

Havent fixed my leaky heater in the 63 yet, will burn up the rest of that gas when we have a warm day and refill for winter.

Had the wagon just a few times & 1 long trip in the 409 to north of Kingston in August to visit long time friend from Kindergarten!! Then a trip through Halliburton & Bancroft on Thanksgiving wknd. to check out the leaves in the 409, so it got more miles on it than the wagon.

Yeah definitely a different year so no long trips. Probably out a couple hundred times at least though so obviously multiple times a day. Down to the border and east to Sicamous were the limits. Car ran good and its my summer driver and hopefully will be for a few weeks yet. First snowfall has melted and no sand was used as it was so wet.

Ya did not get her out that much year either. Did a few Cruises in Your back yard, once where we talked, but
not really enough compared to last few years. Did manage to save some fuel though, LOL. Was gonna try and get out one more time
with the winter tires on her, to see if the winter tires still have some smoke left, but they got some brine on the road already so
winter hibernation it is. Hopefully this Covid Crap takes a Hike real soon. Not looking good for going south anytime soon though.

I put over 1500 miles on it this year. Started off early and pretty well so I used it quite a bit however the car shows were few and very different from the previous years as no socializing about cars. I must say that it was the use of the car that kept me "mentally fit" this summer, it was one positive thing in life. Now it's down to it's last few trips providing it stays dry before I store it for the winter.

I used the 66 Beaumont for about 3000 lovely troublefree miles this year. Once I added the tilt steering it was that much nicer. Next year cruise control. As for the 66 Grande, it never even moved. Not good for me or for it!

I put just over 500 miles on my '64 CS this year. Most of these miles were a blend of city cruising and a few highway runs. I did not attend any cruise events but did frequent the Milky Way for ice cream on a number of occasions.

Actually had the Beaumont out quite a bit this summer. Went to a couple local cruise nights early on, but didnt see much social distancing going on, so I stuck with just going for a nice drive instead, Im not much for standing around for hours anyways, rather be driving. We had a light dusting of snow a couple weeks ago and the City blasted the roads with tons of salt so thats it for this year.

When I built this engine I said it was likely the last engine I'd ever rebuild. I figure in my life I've done at most 15 engines. Never had a bottom end fail, never had an oil burner. This one went the first 50 miles perfectly, never burned a drop of oil. I dropped the break in oil, drove about another 150 miles, still never used a drop. I often check my oil and from the 200 miles mark to the 325 miles mark suddenly it was about 1 1/2 quarts low confuse

Topped it up to exactly full. Next morning, got up early, did two trips back and forth to our dealership just to test it. That's about 62 miles at 60 mph. Down about 3/4 of a quart in 62 miles. Weird.

Kept driving it off an on all summer, sometimes just around town, sometimes out on the highway giving it a good licking. Doesn't smoke at all. Tailpipes are a bit on the black side, same with the plugs, some plugs a bit more than others but they aren't wet, just dark. PCV hose is bone dry inside. It runs absolutely beautiful, no knocks, ticks, nothing even on a cold start. Sometimes in an evening when I drive it 20-25 miles the oil level really doesn't change, next time it's quite noticeably lower for the same distance.

I'm building another 427 this winter, then swapping it into the car and will tear down the 2 stroke 427 when I get time.  The "new" 427 will share no parts from the old one except the carb, distributor, water pump, exhaust manifolds. All the pieces that could possibly relate to the oil burning will not be used on the new engine. Different block, heads, cam and lifters, valves, intake manifold, everything different on the new one.

One suggestion is it could be the intake not sealing and I intend to try some testing to eliminate that before I pull it.

It's all good because I didn't put enough cam in it anyway so now I'll get a chance to correct that. I just won't have a nice "matching numbers" 1966 427/390 horse 4 speed B body block stamping like the one in the car now. My next build will be using a 454 block to build a 427.

I did probably the same this year Carl. and I feel super lucky. My 496 eventually settled into a routine of no oil burned, and the oil stays golden clean with no gas smell to it. I worried about the clean oil, but it has no gas smell.

When new, it consumed a bit, smoked at startup, and the oil was always black. I guess the rings took a bit to settle. 3 oil changes with VR-1 10/30 in it's life, and a big K&N filter every time might have helped?

I had hoped maybe it would settle down but it's not changed a bit since it went for crap originally. I drove it hard enough times to seat the rings and no go.

Funny thing is, I like building engines so I'm really not upset in the least about this, other than the extra money but I figure once I get it sorted out and back in the car eventually I'll have my spare 427 to sell and that's not usually a hard sell.

Put bore and stroke to the new one Carl. It the cheapest way to grunt.

The crank will be the cost.
