Ok, I'll bite. Why not just have a left turn lane and light at the second light, main intersection?

Boy....if George could post on this one! Make the simple=hard...tooooooo much thought into everything these days! The more thought......the more complicated!!! We are prone to others thinking for us......Wonder how good it works with a robot car?

Weird. Im guessing this new lane allows traffic coming the other way to continue flowing while this left turning lane is flowing. Id have to see it and yes, robot cars could have problems, the human driver would have to put his phone down and drive.

Todd will straighten us out on this, I think he has to pass through this new intersection regularly.

Social media has been lighting up because of this intersection. It's not up and running yet. We are all questioning the logic of the decision to use this idea (the first in North America). The road in question is a city of Charlottetown bypass which in my opinion there shouldn't be any traffic lights at all. An overpass with off/on ramps would have been a more logical decision. Apparently these lights will have 5 hour battery protection as chaos would ensue if the power ever went off.

Actually more and more high end cars are showing up in PEI- especially in the Stratford area where there are a number of 1 million dollar plus homes.

.... maybe they borrowed the designers from Calgary where they always add lights that aren't needed and where they can break traffic flow for no apparent reason.

Here's one to get your head round, traffic goes both ways round the large roundabout, which is surrounded by 6 "mini" roundabouts:

 

 

Once you've digested that I have an even worse one!
