'67 front coils in a '68

Hey guys,

I think this is probably my second post in 5yrs of being a member but it's finally time to start giving my SD some lovin' and get it back on the road. This summer I bought a complete re-built suspension from a recently restored '67 Chevelle SS. The previous owner decided to upgrade to a full Hotchkiss suspension and Willood discs after about 5000 miles and sold me everything he took off including a fairly complete front disc brake set-up and new rear drum brakes. In doing my research on fitment of parts I have found two differences in suspension components between "67 and"68. I know the rear upper control arms won't swap so I plan on rebuilding my existing ones but I have also found that the front coils are a little different on the tops of the coils. The '68 being flat on the tops.

My question is has anybody ever used '67 front coils in a '68 and if so were there any problems? It seems most aftermarket coils are listed for '64 - '72 but the OEM style coils are '64 - '67 and '68 - '72. Is there a difference in the upper spring pocket? I obviously would prefer to use the '67 springs and not spend anymore money but I also don't want to go through the trouble of installing them only to find out I'm not happy with them. I have searched the internet for hours and basically found no info.

If anybody can shed some light on this it would be greatly appreciated.

Bob.
