American Graffiti

There's no movie in the world that I've watched more than American Graffiti! How is it you can watch a movie over and over and then suddenly one time when you're watching it you catch something new?  You know that scene right at the start where Milner and Kurt are talking? You hear what turns out to be Falfa at full throttle in the background. I always remember listening to the sound of his car but never noticed before that you hear Falfa pull a couple of full throttle power shifts in that scene!

Falfa's got no posi! When he took off from the light where he was parked beside the 58 he only left one strip!

I read that the black 55 was also used in the movie two lane blacktop. It apparently was still in inventory at the studio so it was requisitioned for American Graffiti.

The movie just ended. What a fun show! I was watching the show listening to the music and was reminded of a little trivia fact that many of you may not know. You know the song Party Dol by Buddy Knox? Of all places, he lived about 20 minutes from here in a fairly remote part of southern Manitoba for I think it was over 20 years. That was close to the end of his life. I think he passed away only a few years after he moved out of Manitoba.

My fav movie of all time. A lot of good info on the cars and the cast and what it took to make the movie. They got booted out of the first town they were filming in.....                                               https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j97UZh3dzoQ

Pretty sure it was about a 1975-78 era, possibly brown.

George Lucas early love for cars and one of his friends who he created the character John Milner. I see the car is shown in footage near the beginning of Jim's post.

Silver by chance? My friend's dad had a silver 77. I've never asked him. I'll have to ask.

I remember hearing about Buddy Knox living in Manitoba years ago. Must have been tired of the the rat race. I actually have an autographed album of his that my uncle gave me from a concert he attended back in 57. Kind of cool.

If I'm not mistaken Loreena McKennitt  comes from your neck of the woods. Pretty swanky for a small town prairie girl.

My father moved our family from Fernie BC to Gilbert Plains Manitoba in '75 and we were there for 2 years. He used to tell us stories about when he played with Buddy Knox himself. My father always had a band formed where ever we were living. Seeing Mr Knox's named just brought back a plethora of memories from back then. Sorry to hijack.......
