Where I used to work, back-in was mandatory. But I virtually never backed into the garage at home. I find that backing into a dark garage was more difficult than backing out into daylight. When I enter the garage to drive away, I open the garage door and walk around the back on my way to the driver's side to make sure it's clear before backing out. I also cannot open the tailgate or canopy if I'm backed in far enough to close the garage door. At least when I drive in, I can get into the box by opening the garage door without having to move the truck.
Couple things from here that dont weigh in for me as each garage is a little different. As soon as my garage door goes up the light comes on so not an issue for being dark and I have depth in the garage to drop my tailgate and can still walk around behind it. Was sort of a joke when we built our house many years ago as I drew up the plans and told my wife I was only concerned with what was on my side of the garage door. She had the choices on the other side. Almost 30 years in here and hopefully a few more to go
