much more expensive thanks to the government.

Not only are they going to incur a big 20 percent VAT charge,

there will be an additional 10 percent import duty 

if theyre coming from mainland Europe.

Yep, thats 30 percent in taxes for the privilege of owning a classic car. "

Europe has some car tax rules period that apply to all cars, my neighbor whos Dutch said if he were to buy a car here, he was talking a Viper, the taxes to import it are huge. In Holland you also pay a tax based on size of the engine.

I knew a man from Jamaica that emigrated to Canada and kept his home in Jamaica. He worked here for thirty years or so and was planning his retirement back to Jamaica. He was sending a car back home (VW Jetta) and I am sure he said the import duty and taxes would be $10,000 Canadian!
