Is anyone watching "Lost Speedways" ?

With growing up near a "lost speedway" Nilestown, I find this show about the only good thing on TV right now.

Produced by Dale Earnhardt Jr.

Spent a lot of nights camped out on the south banks of the Thames River watching the races.

That oval is still there.

Tonight's show featured the owner of Talladega raceway being run out of his former town.

With Richard Petty walking around the old track with the guys.

Love the history !

Thanks!  I'll check my listings.  We have both Discovery Velocity and the History Channel.  smile

Coincidentally, yesterday I stumbled upon a website that is working to preserve racing history in the Maritimes, and they have a list of old speedways:

https://heartofachampion.ca/backtracking/

They also found and restored a '67 Chevelle stock car that I recall seeing many times in the 1970s:

Also, a number of years ago I found the following site that lists old racetracks across Canada:

Speedway park In Edmonton probably got its best salute when it was used as the backdrop for one of David Cronenberg's early films, Fast Company.

Those images sure bring back its heyday!

I looked for it on Discovery Velocity, but couldn't find it. However did see listings on the History Channel.

Yeah, I found it on the History Channel - watched 3 episodes 'on demand' last night.  Good show!

Thanks for the heads-up on it, ghost tracks have been a fascination of mine for some time.  I located a few local tracks on Google Earth a number of years ago.
