1973 Buick Electra 2 door htp for sale at winnipeg wrecking yard - wouldn't you really rather have a Buick

I think that was one of their slogans

anyway a car that is rarely seen anymore in decent complete shape -

That temperature guage on the steering column threw me a bit - i was thinking it might be a gm accessory  but looking at the pictures morely closely it looks aftermarket

Classy machine in its day! I always thought these Buicks were on par with Cadillac.

Love those and the 2 doors are on the rare side, lots of 4 door hardtops (which are pretty darn cool too!)

It very well could have a 455. These engines are getting very hard to find now and are worth a good buck on their own. I saw a magazine years ago where a guy was running 11's in one of those. He actually got about 2" of air under the left front tire when he launched. Quite a sleeper!

That was a GREAT article, I had it too. I think he called it "Das Boat" or something? I recall it had the front bumper welded together, you could see the stitch in the closeup picture. What a sleeper it was...

Now I have to see if I can find that story!

Gotta love internet, found it already!

Look at the bottom of the bumper, what a perfect sleeper/beater.

For their time these early 70s full sized Buicks were neat and not bad looking, especially the 71-72 models.

Looks like a good buy at $3K, especially if it's as solid as it looks.  Should clean up pretty nicely.

There is nothing you can get today that's like these big old land yachts.  They just float over the bumps but are really something to experience on the highway when you put the pedal to the mat.

Carl that's the article. Do you have the rest of it? I seem to recall it came out of an east coast magazine.

 I agree.

As 427Carl would say "It will haul a lot of potatoes".

I remember back in 1979 when I was a wild 14-15 teen. They were getting rid of big V8 cars like this caused by the higher price of gas, oil embargo. I had older friends with fresh licence old enough to drive, we'd pitch in the cash and buy a land yacht for $50 ! For example we bought an early 70s Buick LeSabre 455 ... We'd go as fast as we could on country road with them, car would shake from loose worn out front suspension, lucky I'm still alive because beer was often part of the joy ride ! We'd take these cars on dirt roads as well, destroy them, for example, put a big rock on the gas pedal till it blew the engine ... We did a lot of bad things I could have went to jail for, bad boys we were !

No shot of right rear quarter panel. I wonder what lurks out of camera view? Hopefully nothing nasty?
