Shelter Logic Garage in a Box- are they any good?

Canadian Tires is putting the Shelterlogic 24x12x8 Garage in a Box on sale 50% off this weekend. Since my truck is too big for the garage at my house I thought it might be nice to have. Does anyone have one?

If I buy I'll be building a 4x4 "foundation" for it and placing it next to my garage on the west side to shield it from the strong northeast winds we get.

They are OK, they do the job if you look after them. I have a couple, they are both going on 5 years now. I am quite sheltered so wind really isn't an issue. Be sure to get the snow off regularly don't let it build up, the round top seem to shed the snow better than the gable which is what I have. If I was to do it again it would be the round top. I would also put a few strips of Gorilla Tape on the tarp where it makes the sharper bends for extra support, mine have split there and I have had to patch them. I wouldn't pay full price for one, but on sale it doesn't seem so bad.

Like Dan says, keep heavy snow off of it. My wiles cousin has one out in Gaspe with the rounded top, bought it on sale as well. He padded all the top bars with foam before the cover went on.

On sale at half off, I'd say that's a great deal. Act fast.

I have had one for 6 years -we  use it for the snowmobile at our cottage - the main area of wear that i have experienced is  that it is tearing by the zipper for  the entrance opening - that just started over  the last two years - tried sewing it up with fishing line - that' s not really working so we ordered a new cover for $250 ( which probably is as much as a complete new one costs} - it just saves  the work of constructing the frame again

As far as a foundation  goes I bought the metal peg kit and pounded  them into the ground - ours is out of the wind also

Assembly is pretty easy and well detialled in the instruction  book - a neighbor just recently put one up by himself - it is good to have an extra set of hands for some of the later assembly steps but not essential - i think it took about 3 hours to put up and we weren't rushing

It is actually fairly warm in the winter - i can work without gloves on with the entrance closed

Same review as the previous gents. I've replaced a cover for a client after about 5 years and she had just bought another one for half price to get the cover. They run those sales quite regularly.   Nice to have two people when your are putting on the cover. I think they are good value for the money.

Yes. There's my house when looking east from the garage. A bit a hike if we ever got a foot of snow.

Yes, 20 seconds by bicycle, 5 seconds by car and about 2 minutes straight across the field by foot on a good day.

I had a 20 x 10 one for a number of years. Strong winds eventually ripped it apart and rust got the frame. I bought an ex showroom one for cheap from Costco a couple of years ago but haven't got round to putting it up. Hope there's nothing missing when I do......

I know that would never last up here on the north shore, that's why I've never entertained owning one.
