I think I've ridden in that car. Is that the car Carl had, and Ashmore had? He replaced the pans on it using a rotisserie if I remember right.

Rare as in only 180 people bought it. GM would have made thousands if people wanted it back then.

Yes, you were kind of looked down upon if you had a 2 door sedan back then. Now they are super cool!

It was embarrassing as a kid to ride in my Dad's 61 Batwing Strato Chief with a 261. The other kids would mock me who's Dad's had hardtops and V8's. There was a distinct cheapness and undesirability to a two door sedan, usually standard transmission and 6 cylinders, most spinsters who drove to church once a week had them. The cheapest form of transportation you could buy.

I also agree..  The more plain... the better . There is a very strong and growing market for these 2 dr post cars . Especially if they have Big Blocks , and a 4 spd .

Pretty hard to find a 2 dr post these days , as there were not too many produced . Back then , all the chrome and options were what people wanted .

Was Ashmores car a 383 or a bb?

Our dad had a 4-door '61 Strato Chief, 261, 3-on-the-tree, puke green, rubber floor mats and pie plate hub caps.  Imagine our embarrassment!  The rear window shattered a couple of months after he got it.  Company car.

I believe it was a 383 when Carl and Randy owned it.

Yeah that car was really misrepresented when Carl bought it. Might have even come out of the States if I remember right. Ashmore had lots of repair to do as he showed us.
