The boss is looking at replacing it with a used Promaster City. Surprisingly the reviews aren't too bad for these. They have a real transmission instead of a CVT like some of them. He's looking at a few in Ontario. They are about 3 grand cheaper and likely less rusty.

They all look the same to me...Chevrolet,Ford,Chrysler,Nissan,Mercedes

From what I've read the Nissan is the worst. Very little hauling capacity and a weak CVT trans. I've heard the Ford Tranits aren't really reliable.

If your employer has the budget, well find you one. Maybe a sedan delivery Pontiac, LS powered for the fuel economy?

One of these new vans is probably $25-35,000, certainly doable for a 58?

There are still some Canadian made Dodge Caravans out there.

Lots of people kick them but not many owners properly service them.

Our two current workhorses have well over 300,000 kms each.

Yes, all highway, very regularly serviced.

The last two we retired, were fought over by co-workers.

Not a Chevy. They are rebadged junk Nissans. A Ram Promaster. He has a connection in Ontario who is looking for a good one and will arrange shipping to PEI. We can't afford to buy new as margins are small in the honey business thanks to all the fake and adulterated honey that gets imported here. "Real" honey producers take a huge hit every year. I suspect 2021 will be a make or break year for the company I work for.

There is a greenhouse near me and the owner used an f250 for his business, a 2010 if I recall. Last spring I saw a 1980 Chevy 3/4 ton parked at the greenhouse. He told me that he was having a lot of trouble with the Ford with wiring and sensor issues that it was at the dealer most of the time. He bought the older truck and had the carb rebuilt and hasnt had any trouble with it at all. He said its nice having a truck thats reliable and doesnt have a check engine light.

I saw that. Apparently they fold up like an accordion in even a minor accident.

Wife's uncle had the same problem with his Sunfire. Turned out it was the porcelain disintegrating on the spark plugs? Sounded silly, but that's exactly what it was. changed the AC Delco plugs out for NGK's I think, problem solved...

Yeah, forward control vans typically don't do very well in front end crashes - or more specifically, the drivers don't do well.  I was joking anyhow... those things sure were ugly.

Check out the Toyota at 8:30 in this video:
