My eyes are on fire.

There is so much to document on the correct things with these cars.

Those stickers, wow !

There is no debating what is correct on these cars anymore.

Welcome and thank you for sharing !

I have personally seen some of the rare 69s but this has to be the rarest of all.

I love the way this thread starts... A tease, with no pictures... The anticipation builds... Then, BAM!

What a fine example!

I'd forgotten that we could get 2DHTs in the Laurentian line, too, back then.  Sort of like the '62 Bel Air "bubbletops".

We will figure out soon how to attach pictures....so the story is
My father bought this vehicle brand new in 1969, has never seen winter and basically little rain, always kept in the garage. A couple of miner scratches on the paint, chrome is impeccable, interior like new, vinyl top, was ordered with a L36-427 and a M20 four speed......I am pretty sure it is unique in it's own. I ordered a building sheet from Heritage, spoke with the guy and he told me that out of 43,000 Big Pontiac built in 1969 only 147 were ordered with the L36-427 but cant' tell how many are standard or automatic with same features. I am looking to get advice, information, comments about this car and if anyone has seen one like it

Yes , there may be 147 L36 produced ( and that would include AT trans ) , but I bet there were very few with the 4 speed ordered . ( i would guess in the range of 10-15 ) . Rumour has always been "12"  2+2's were built with L36 / 4 speed , how many Parisienne's with that same powertrain ? Very small # , I'm sure .

A couple of very unique 4 spd parts on your car. ( same as Chevrolet)

  •  Back Drive Assembly  1 year only (easily worth $1500 USD)
  •  4 speed Air Cleaner    1 year only (easily worth $1000 USD)
  •  4 speed shifter           2 year only (easily worth $750- 1200 USD)
  •  Shifter bench boot      2 year only ( I've seen them go for 1300 USD for NOS)
  •  Chrome boot bezel   2 year only  ( $250-500 USD)
  •  4 spd steering column 1 year only ( yes there is a difference from regular floor shift )

Plus your smog assembly is intact !

And then this is a bench seat 427 4 speed. Would that 12 2+2s be included in the 147?

Yes , I believe they are included in the 147. ( The comment I understood was 147 in full size passenger models , which would include all models ) .  I know of a 69 real 2+2  L36 AT convertible in my area , as well as a 69 2 dr Grande parisienne 427 in a private yard , and a 69 Grande Parisienne  427  4 door that was parted out .

I spoke to Serge earlier today and he asked my opinion about having the car repainted as there's a couple of scratches and painting the engine. I strongly feel the car should be left alone and kept completely as it is as I feel any restoration work aside from maintenance will greatly deminish the value of this car and also remove any chance for folks to see how these cars were put together. Same goes with parts that fail like a starter/alternator etc. They should be rebuilt or at least kept if replaced.
Do you guys agree?

Yeah! This is one of those that should be kept as a time capsule. Too bad, in a way, as it must be a fun car to drive hard!

As you said Todd, this is an opportunity to document everything about the car , it's history and the way it was built.

Lots of photos need to be taken for our archives.

Great addition to the Poncho site.

Yes. If at all possible owing to the rare combination I'd keep this one as original as possible. Rebuild or restore any component as required, don't replace them. And keep the finish original warts and all. The Oshawa finish can't ever be replicated.

But by all means please drive it. Carefully and limited, but for sure drive it.

Todd, you are right, leave engine compartment and exterior and everything else as is.

Serge, as far as money/value goes, the 100% originality is worth more than if the car is painted. There was a dusty original 63 impala, never titled, sold a few years ago at auction for US$100,000, it was a small block automatic, the special valuable part was the originality. Once something is restored, its not the same. If you go back to some of those other 69 427s on here, nothing lit up all us Cdn Pontiac people like yours has?

All Id do with it is clean the engine compartment if its greasy or dusty, soap and water. Show us some pics of it so we can see how it is.

I guess if i was in your position, Id probably enjoy driving it, regardless of putting more miles on it, but thats me, not you.

Don

Agreed, don't do any touch ups, don't repaint anything, just clean it/detail it real well and enjoy it.
