I had a souped up 73 750 four. Sold it for 1500. Used to think I'd like another one someday. I guess not anymore.

Where I lived (and still do) a street bike wasn't really an option as there wasn't much pavement, so we were into dirt bikes.

My first one was this little beast.

Can am.jpg

Quite fun but once I got a ride on my friends Yamaha TT500 single cylinder four-stroke thumper I had to move into the four stroke league so I sold it to my bro who hasn't ridden in it for about 40 years now. Still in nice shape though.

I moved through a couple of the XT500's and wish I had kept the last one I had which was a classic 1982 XT550J. A friend still has it and won't ever sell it back though.

Just lately I got the yen to just have a runabout bike so I picked up my first street bike, a cheap, hardly used 2008 Honda Rebel 250. Had lots of fun on that little thing but according to "some" I'm getting a bit too chubby to look proper on that little bike. (I believe the phrase was, "I look like a little Frenchman going out for his bagettes."

In order to look properly tough again I have been fantasizing about moving up to a New Rebel 500 but really why? I can kill myself just as easily on the 250 and it takes literally 5 bucks worth of gas a week, if that.

Anybody priced an old Honda CT70, CT90 or CT110 lately? More now than when new and it seems the prices are climbing fast.

As for looking "like a little Frenchman going out for his bagettes." - I'd bought an old Honda XL100 a few years ago. Someone told me I looked like a circus bear riding a tricycle. Turned out the bike was an exercise bike in disguise - by the time I got it running, I was exhausted from trying to kick it over or push start it around the block.

Yeah when you're young a kick start seemed just manly enough but when you get old and you only have about three pumps in you before the heart attack it kind of loses its appeal!

Buddy had a 70 Sportster and his leg was done from that thing kicking back. The thing would stall at a light, I would get off my bike and push himself

Good to hear from you Steve.  And my question to you would be "How is that convertible coming|?"  I am going to come through your area again sometime to check it out.

Brother had a Z1, then maybe an 1100, then got into several 650 Yamahas.

The rag got moved to the end of the list about 5 years ago. not a good thing just didnt have the time after i got sick. i traded my beaumont wagon for a 53 pontiac delivery a couple of years and i was gonna go nuts on that. then my wife talked me into thinning the herd. so i sold a bunch of bikes plus the delivery. the 55 gmc got a big block, ac in the spring. i have 2 bike i havent ridden since i left the eastcoast 21 years ago, so they are the focus now. the 71 triple is done ready for spring. my 74 z1 is on the assembly side and almost ready. next up is to get the jeep running, since its a glass body i dont have worry about body work just gotta finish the drivetrain and wire it. then i should be back onto the 70 by summer. i did harvest the 454 out of the 70 2 years ago to keep the 55 going after i blew the motor but i acquired another 454 for the 55 so i replaced it back into the 70 so i dont have to worry about breaking it in. awe the ongoing saga continues.

I have had this one in my shed for about 25 years, had it running a few times. Just a minibike, but apparently quite rare.

I think I just sold my step-fathers 1981 Yamaha Midnight Maxim 650. Quite rare as only very few (100 I think) were brought into Canada that year.

He's the original owner and it only has 26000 kms on it.

I've had it listed since the fall. Lots of inquiries, but now a real solid offer, so let's hope.

I obtained, once again, the very first bike I had a few years ago. I got it when I was about 8 or 9 and it was new to my cousin a couple years earlier.
it's a 1973 Honda Z50A.

when I got it back from my best friend, it had gone through about 6 more family members lives when they were learning to ride.. it was in pretty rough shape.. but still ran like a top and wanted to keep on keepin on.

I did a restoration on it and now my 10 year old son is learning to ride it in our back yard..
so much fun..

engine has never been rebuilt..

I have a similar story. Bought my ST90 new in 1974 when I was 16. Kept if for many years, sold it to a cousin, he sold it to another cousin, he quit driving it likely late 90's and stuck it it a corner in a shed. I got it back likely 10-12 years ago and it's going to be one of my retirement projects. I had no idea how much in demand these ST90's are until I ran a wanted ad looking for a few little parts. All I got was replies from guys insisting I should sell them my bike!

For now it sits in the basement until I get time to start on it. Was running and driving fine when parked but needs a new ignition switch, it just had a toggle switch in there! I have the air cleaner, but it's missing in the picture.
