Greeting from Alberta... First ever Pontiac. Rescued a Safari Laurentian... been sitting at least 20 years.. Not a Pontiac fan per say, but a cool car nonetheless and really hate to see this old stuff scrapped. Need help decoding the Oshawa vin #. By all indication it seems to be a '65 with a 283. Any help appreciated.
Apologies on the size of the pics.

Thanks for that... turned cold here so havent even unloaded it yet. By all indications its a two-speed Powerglide transmission. Doesnt look to be a repaint - maybe on the roof? so not sure about the 2 tone , but seems to be factory white on white.
Some doucheweasel stole the headlight bezels last fall so need to track down a needle in a haystake i guess....
Looks like you're missing the low beam bucket on the passenger side, and both headlight bezels. Give Flatla Auto Wrecking near Tilley AB a try. High beam & low beam headlight buckets are different, and possibly different drivers side to passenger side.

And I think I did D99 wrong. It's the moulding that splits the colours on a car with a two tone paint job but on Canadian Pontiacs we could order that moulding without actually ordering two tone paint.
Odd that it doesn't have the M35 for Powerglide on the tag. I'm more of a 66 guy and they did but maybe 65 didn't. My 66 was a 3 on the tree so the tag is lacking a code for transmission just like your tag is.

Welcome to CP and great save. The suggestion of Flatla Wreckers is a good one as he had two 65 full size Pontiacs. Unfortunately, for you, the best set of 65 headlight chromes that he had are now in my possession. As I remember the other set was pretty decent also. Good luck.
Regarding the stampings on the data tag I believe all have now been decoded. Just a note that my original 65 Custom Sport does have the M35 stamping on the bottom line of the data tag ( the only option indicated on that bottom line )

Thanks to all ... great info and suggestions. The best part of this car is the uber cool dash layout. Was this style only around for the '65 - '66 model years?
