Wish cameras could be placed to ticket people who park in handy cap spots. I see it so much in Barrie.

People who put "Back in 15 minutes" on a business door. What time did you put the sign up? Was it 2 minutes ago or 14 minutes ago? Did you forget and leave the sign there?
I ran into this today..

Misspelling the name or model of the car while pretending to be fully informed is. Perisien is quite common.
Thinking that because it has a steel roof it is a hardtop etc

So this is my rant and the reason I started this thread. All about neighbours.... So..had a guy move in next door about 10 years ago. The last owner of the property was a drunk and druggie,so we thought GREAT! A new normal neighbour! Well...he clear cut his property(was huge fir/cedar trees) now we can see his whole house... After he clear cut it he bought an excavator and would run it at 11:30 at night!! and that was during the week! He would also just walk on over whenever he heard us outside with company and proceed to drink our beer and ask for smokes all night long. It bugged me but thought(maybe he doesn't have any friends) my wife also told me not to start anything. I could go on with a few more things...but I'm not writing a novel. Too the point! He called a few weeks back to complain about my shop lights...I ignored it. Then last week he came to the front door and complained to my wife. My son was there and said something to him about we don't complain! Neighbour called him a "Little Tweeker". Sherry texted me as I was down at the shop and I just lost it!! The nerve and to call my son that! He has 5 achers,I have 2 achers,my propery is sloped so my shop is 40' below his house and is also dug into a bank. His house is 120' away from my shop. The light that is bugging him has been there for 5 years!!!!! I am Pissed and think I have a right to be. Am pretty easy going...until I get to a point. Then look out! Typing it out does help.....

i can relate, there is always one moron that has to ruin the neighbourhood. doesn't seem to matter where you live, been in that situation a few times myself, the only solution is to buy 160 acres and build right in the middle of it

I can relate about the bad neighbour thing as well.  Our driveway runs perpendicular to our neighbour's driveway and we share a driveway opening to the street.  The house is a rental, so a number of years ago a couple moved in whose source of income was one of those pyramid schemes.  Well, the first time I met him he was directing his friends to park their cars in my driveway, which runs along the front of his house, thereby blocking us in.  I went over to introduce myself and politely explain that his friends were in my driveway and we couldn't get out, and he replied "well, it's in front of my house".  I wanted to say "do you think that I own an effing helicopter to get my cars out??", but I bit my tongue.  That was insight into the character of a self-involved narcissist/sociopath that would become a nightmare neighbour for 7 years.  I won't go into it, but I will say it felt like a thousand pounds was lifted off my back when they finally left.

Regarding the other peeves, it's a good thing I don't know you guys personally, because I'm guilty of some of them (lol)...

"Have a good one"... yup, I say that.  "Have a nice day" or "Have a good day" seems so overused and insincere to me, so I got into the habit of using the other phrase because it just seemed a little more informal, like saying "whatever you do, I hope you enjoy it".  Depending on who you're talking to, it could have varied meanings, like enjoy your beer, or whatever other activity you happen to be about to engage in...

"No worries"... I've used that one ever since I saw the Crocodile Dundee movie in 1986, at first with a bad Aussie accent (poorly imitating Dundee)... "no worries mate" (also liked "that's not a knife... this is a knife").  Got tired of the standard "you're welcome" so I thought it would be more fun to use that phrase.   Two decades later the rest of the world decided to copy me copying our Aussie mates... biggrin

I applaud people who wear leds and bright clothing while walking at night, but I have a bit of a peeve about everybody wearing safety vests everywhere.  Used to be that only police and construction workers wore safety vests... kind of made them look "official" and you knew if somebody was wearing one that you had to pay attention to them because they were probably working on the road (or they could give you a ticket) - you knew something was going on, anyhow.  Now average citizens wear them everywhere and they just blend into the background...

The grammar stuff used to annoy me, but now I find it more amusing... especially when I do it! wink

Haha... fun thread!

Sorry to hear you have one of "those" neighbors Jim. Don't escalate the war to much, could go in a bad direction, but being a general annoyance to him is fair game.

My main pet peeve is people that have to park in the middle of my driveway so I can't get in to My spot. My driveway is 3 cars wide and 2 deep, but only 2 wide at the road. and usually only the 2 or 3 main vehicles in it. Never fails, some one stops by and parks in the middle of the entrance and I can't get in when I get home from work. Drives me nuts....at least with covid, no visitors so hasn't really been an issue for awhile.....

One of my pet peeves is when someone cuts me off and nobody's behind me, then ends up doing 30 in a 90 zone.

LOL, I was out in the driveway working one day (when it was nicer out, not now!) and someone I know somewhat casually wasted a good part of my evening doing exactly that with me!

I can't get into specifics because most of the theories were politics/religion...

The smoke used to bother my wife and I, especially her because she is so sensitive to the smoke. However, smoking has really gotten to be a non issue because it's so restricted now.
