Pet peeve and Rant thread...Get it off your chest here!

Im from the Ottawa valley and the greeting is Gidday Eh and i use it all the time. I havent lived in the valley in 30 years because of being employed in the navy and I found every region has different dialects. Im thinkin im pretty laid back, I dont know but what cheeses me off is when the newer generations are offended. Come on man" is a generic term to refer to human kind but everybody is all up in arms about it. i have a female dog proper term is bitch but still called her a dog. Get over it. If I manage to offend one person a day its a good day. Maybe im the snowflake because I resent change.

Ya, we have a couple of those loons down the road from us and they are "educated" people (both went to university and are geologists).

One thing they brought up is that Covid 19 isn't that prevalent, contractible, and the death count is WAY overblown. The guy of the couple said that he wishes he could lick a person's face that has Covid!disbelief

I steer clear of the nutters from now on.

This is a "Makes me feel good thread"...I always feel better after a good rant..biggrin But yes....a positive note would be good also. We have become a complaining world. When common sense makes a  comeback.....I'll stop complaining......

People who put new cars in the "Classic Cars" category on Kijiji. There's currently a 2020 Corolla here in PEI posted in this area. The seller even paid for the "Top Ad" feature. I sent him a message letting him know he has the car in the wrong category-"Classic Cars". His reply was "?". So, I replied "Good luck with the sale". You can only do so much...

Sorry if this was already brought up but every time I see the title of this topic, I think of the CTV news segment back in the 80s or 90s with the "What bugs you?" and the bug mobile

I do the driving, sit and wait and observe everything while Mel goes in grocery shopping. The number of times I've seen lazy people just stuff their cart in a snowbank or up on a boulevard is astonishing.

Sorry to say, a lot of people down here seem to be of that privileged class.

Here's something that happens to me a lot and it has to do with texting. I'm not a fan of texting however with my job and friends it seems to be the way people want to  communicate these days.

This happens quite a bit:

I'll get a text from someone and usually it's a question.

I reply right away

No response.

I can't figure this out...

Does the person who asks the question throw their phone across the room immediately after asking the question? Do they shut the phone off?

This happened to my wife today. She's getting known as the tech support person in our area so she gets quite a bit of texts from people having problems with their phones, website, emails, computers etc.

A lady sends her a text in what seemed like a  panic regarding an email issue she is having at work (my wife did some tech support for her company)

My wife dropped what she was doing and immediately responded to her and asked her to give her some key information that she'd need to solve the issue.

As the song says "NOOO REPLY AT ALLLLL"

After 10 minutes my wife replies again: "Hello? Did you get my last text??"

The lady replies "Yes, but I'm having lunch right now".

Unbelievable  furious

The more people are afraid to talk "live" the more rude they seem to get.

100% agree. I used to have Whats App because the people at work had it for group chats. I deleted it last week for the exact same reason above. I dont even want to use my cell anymore..

Yup.  Same with emails at work.  Somebody asks a question.  You answer it.  And that's it.  No... "thank you" or "I understand", or any acknowledgement of having even received it.

Used to drive me crazy until I decided to give up work...  Now it's great.  biggrin

The light turns green, and the car ahead doesn't move. The image in the rear view mirror is of the top of the driver's head as they complete a text or Facebook post. A honk of the horn results in an irate middle finger.

Texts. What happened to calling each other ?

Using letters instead of words, or short form abbreviated terms ! Usually have to look them up. Is ones life so busy you cannot type the whole word?

One thing that really super annoys me is when you come home from work only to discover the city cut down your front lawn tree!

And, this was after a good day at work!  I drive home, park on the street and start walking up to the house and I get this weird sense that something is amiss......then notice that the only thing that remains of my 7 year old healthy frontage tree is some wood chips and gouge in the dirt.

Unreal.  I have a whole vocabulary of colorful adjectives to describe my disappointment.     Completely healthy tree, they take so long to grow and this one was just taking off.......gone!    jumping junipers  disbelief

Please tell me this was at least on city property and not on your property. And even so, can they not consult with you or give you some warning? Wow....

Somebody walking along probably bumped into it lookng down and texting. Too much risk to have those pesky things sticking up.

Just kidding. I'd be pissed. I hope they have a valid reason.

Technically I beleive it is city frontage, which the homeowners use as lawn, but I would have to get the tape measure out to confirm.

But it was the second tree, 7/8 years old, just starting to look like a decent tree and they cut the (deleted) tree down.   It is a newer development and so there are no mature trees yet and you nurture the darn thing along so it can grow quickly and you come home one day and its (deleted) gone!

Thank goodness for the CP rant thread........... sigh
