Trim identify

In the pile of trim I got a few days ago I found a piece that I recognized. It was the same as a piece that I got from Kelly a few years ago. It is about the 44 inch long and looks like a hood spear part # 559766 CAV does anyone know what it is I have kept the original one just because one day I will find a home for it, now I have two homes to look for.

Well 559766 is a RH heater cable for a 51-52 Olds so it appears that's not a GM part. Possibly it's just a casting number that is not the same as the actual part number, in which case it could still be a GM part.

Don, thanks for posting the link to the hood ornament blog. Some really amazing hood ornaments - true works of art. I've seen only a very few of those in real life.

Sorry, can't help with ID of the mystery piece.

Cool site lots of info on hood ornaments. These spears have a similar profile to Other Pontiac type spears, I am guessing this spear is mid sixties, type because the stuff I got from Kelly was all that year range and the second one came with that pile of mid sixties trim I grabbed. I will fire them both back up in the rafters.

I did a quick search and what came up was 1986/1987 Olds Cutlass hood centre trim. The listing was for an Ebay sale that ended long ago, so no pictures. Its a start though.

Yeah
Just waiting on confirmation but it seems the piece sits on the top of a 65 Parisienne fender.
