Is there a LED replacement for a #67 license lamp bulb?

Looking for a low profile LED to replace the #67 bulb in the license plate lamp.

Must be short to fit behind the lens. Any ideas?

I looked in the chassis manual, and the bulb is a #67  4 watt. The only bulb like it in the car.

It's an 1156 sized base, but with a small globe and filament.

I think we posted these at the exact same time Pete!

I thought it was 32 for two , no its $47!!!

I'll just go with a $5 incandescent lol. Maybe there is another led solution?

Mark, have you checked Amazon.ca? I purchased a 10 pack of these a year ago. I used them in the license plate light in my '64 CS, the footwell lights, and even as back-up lights in my MX5 and Ford Ranger XLT. They are super bright, and I think fairly priced. You are correct, Mark. It is a single bayonet 1156 base, and the ones I list below have a low profile. Once others see them, you would have no difficulty selling the extras. Just a suggestion.

Thanks Brian, I had seen those, but was unsure if they'd be too bright. I'll give them a shot! Price is certainly right.

They're not too bright for the plate light are they?

Well, Mark, I suppose one could say that brightness is in the eye of the beholder. Personally, I do not think they are too bright for the plate. As you are no doubt aware, our Sask. plates are white with green lettering. And, allowing for the plate's reflective paint, I find the look to be very pleasing. Any person who is "in the know" would certainly notice the upgrade compared to the yellow (warm white) look of the original incandescent. Previously, I forgot to mention that I also put a pair in my back-up lights on my '64CS. They definitely improved the functionality of the lights by day and night. People can really see my intentions when I place my car in reverse, and I can actually see very well where I am backing up. As you already know, I am definitely not a "purist" when it comes to vehicles of any make or age. I choose functionality, safety, and personal taste over anything any factory ever did. All manufacturers got many things wrong as far as I am concerned. I am confident that you will be favorably impressed.smile

Received the type 67 LED's today.

Just barely fits inside the lens. Nice and bright, I like it,

I made the gasket out of the same material the lamp is sitting on. Tool box drawer liner.

I'll do the 67 license light as well. And put them in both cars courtesy interior lights like you suggested. And I'll still have 4 left!

I'll stick with my old bulbs. I figure if my license plate lamp is dim I might not get in trouble as easy....

Cool! That is great for your car Mark...But remember a while back about the LED bulbs that don't like inverters (RV) So just a s a reminder..make sure your LED bulbs are 12-34 V if using in an RV.

Was going to say the same... Why would you want it as bright as LED headlamps... guess you could use it as a 3rd reverse lamp? I put ambers in my ID lamps where ever possible.... fly under the radar, is my motto.

It's not like it's a headlamp. It's indirect. Should just illuminate the plate itself. I'll test it out this evening.

Funny how the cutout in the bumper is so crude looking.

Not making any excuses, it's bright, but the camera really can't capture it as it really is to the eye. The plate lights up perfectly bold, and it does light the road a bit.

But there is zero glare as it appears here in the night shot. It is more towards how it appears in the first image. I'm happy, Cheers!

Ahhhhhhhh! Yes, Mark, you got it right by making it bright.smile  Obviously, I, too, love the improved look in all of your running lights.  This way, no one gets "left in the dark."

Mark.you can run an old plate on your car? or just for show? I run a 66 plate on the front and a collector plate (with decal) on the rear.

Yes, you can run the Year of Manufacture plates here. You just have to get them approved through the MTO.

It's said that it can be tough, as a lot of the old 6 digit number plates got picked up again on motorcycles and trailers. I don't yet know if this plate will fly, but I like the look of it.

There is an actual vendor in Ontario that has plates for sale pre cleared.

Wow. Yea, that is bright for sure... if that's what you prefer, all good here. I personally like good exterior lamps but a light hue ID bulb. The same with the dashlamps, I turn them down as low as they will go. (not that I drive my oldies at night if I don't have to)

It's really just an experiment if you'd like Vince. And like you, I can't get my dash lights down low enough on my daily driver. I like it dark, like black on long nighttime trips , of which I make at least 6 a year. The old cars, well it's all for fun, just to see how it might look.

I'm actually looking at an adjustable PWM dimmer so I can "Tune" the LED to that perfect brightness.
