Survivor '79 Trans Am and 87 Grand National at Legendary Motor Cars

Peter's son looks and sounds just like him. The GN was sold new at London Motor Products.

That Grand National is something special. I remember stopping to peek in the window of one just like it for sale new, at Leggat on Brant around 87, and thinking how could I find a way to have this.

Me too. We got a low mileage 87 T-Type in on trade when I worked at Eastown. A salesman and I took it out for a rip and it was a blast. I think it had 20k on it. It was sold and a few months later it came in for service. It was all scratched up and filthy.

Young Klutt just sounds greasy. I can't stand to listen to him. He might as well wear a plaid suit and white belt to complete the look.

I'd take the GN and leave the TA behind.

I don't know, there is something about riding in those Trans Am's. The interior, the way you sit down low in them separated by that console, the view of the shaker over that great dash bezel just does it for me.

The GN's interior is really just a ho hum grandpa Regal. I suppose that's the appeal though.

Hi... I found the old man to be a sleez ball. You had to hold your hand on your wallet even talking to him..... Then he stuffs it in your shorts on what a "expert" he is...

Hard to listen to the BS>>>

I don't want to offer my opinion as its best to stay with facts on here, however it is a fact that what cdnpont says is one of many reasons I plunked down $15,700 on a new Monte Carlo SS and took a pass on the Buick GN. Having said that my 30 year old son is Goo Goo Gaga over these cars, so one will likely end up here sooner than later.

We had an 87 GN for 9 years. That was my one complaint about that car. We took a trip to Kansas in it and both my wife and I said no more long trips in a G body. Those bucket seats sucked in the 80's G body cars. The pillowed bench seat with the armrest in the G body "luxury" interiors was a hundred times better on a long trip. The car sure was fun when you used the man pedal though!

I think the Trans Ams of this era are gaudily-decorated cars. The earlier ones were much nicer.

If anyone is hot for a Regal GN, a buddy has an '87 with low miles that is putting out ~600 hp at the flywheel. Was used as a drag car, the HVAC was removed and lost, but it's cosmetically really nice - no sun fade on the paint or the upholstery. I think he's looking in the mid-20s USD. Pop a universal climate control set up on it, drive it and enjoy it. I'm a bit oversubscribed, right now, on projects...
