66 Grande in the garage.....only took 2 1/2 months to purchase!!!!

Well....the waiting is over! Finally pick up the Grande for Kevin after a few months of playing  tag.  Offered a price on the car a month ago and he turned it down. Then he called a couple of weeks back with a lower price but still not to our original offer so we said no. Finally yesterday I got a call saying he would accept our offer. Was pretty sure the car wouldn't sell for his price so we just waited. Could have saved the guy some headaches from other tire kickers if he would have just taken my first cash offer!!  O well...it's in my shop now (drove her home with an "R" plate.  You can still see the firewall markings.......

Excited beyond words! First off what can I say about Jim never giving up on the pursuit of the car for me. Jim also offered to bring it in his shop to make sure its road worthy and this brings me to an unbelievable offer from Mark . He will fill you in on the details of his plan. This is going to be a great help for me as I will be dealing with getting another 66 treasure home from AB . I have some great plans for the GP that i will post later today. I am over the top with all this. Need to get some sleep

I've offered to fly out and drive the car back for Kevin in a epic road trip. I really hope this will work out...for me!!

Is that a Holley 650 on there? I know they have a reputation as a performance carb, but can they be tuned for good economy? This is kind of important over such distance.

That's fantastic! That's what CP is all about. "It warms me heart"
So, what's the good, bad and ugly with the car? It looks good other than peeling clearcoat.

Car was being driven daily so runs and drives pretty good . good frame. Has soft spots in floors and rust on most side panels

The Stevenson Inn is only 30 minutes off the Trans Canada. If it's summer time and we're at the lake, the Stevenson Resort is only 10 minutes off the Trans Canada. Either way it would be great to put you up for the night.

Mark you may find a member to take you in every night but here is a warning, they may not want you to leave when they find out what a great guy you are

It's hard to see in the photo, but it looks like it may be a Holley 2 barrel on there.

Re pit-stops, I'm right on the way through Calgary if you need a place to lay your head down for the night.   Not sure if you've ever driven from the west coast to Toronto, but once you do you realize how big this country is.

so in pursuit of a 66 GP i talked to a collector here in Ontario and he tells me in the 60s he used to work at a gas station and Friday nights he had 4 guys show up in this 427 GP with a case of beer between the guys in the back, tank up and head to the city with both tires smoking as they left the station. He ran into the guy and asked him about the car and what happen to it . He said the car was an L72 he sold to a young guy in 1970 and that guy wrote the car off. With the information he gave me I tracked down the paper work on this car. IT was the same colour in and out as the one Jim purchased for me right down to the vinyl roof so I am going to build a tribute to that car.

Pretty exciting stuff for both Kevin and Mark. I have a room and a bed for your first night here in Kelowna. Not sure if I have room to park the Pontiac.

Looks like it might be a holley 500 two barrel. Does not seem to have back bowls from that pic. But then I got bad eyes.
