Was following the ship stuck in the canal, it weighs 458,000,000 lbs, 1300 ft long, think its about 80 ft wide. It blew sideways in wind, now the bow and stern are aground in sand. Theyve used tugs and been digging sand away from the bow. Waiting for high tide- the tide difference is 3 ft between high and low, it may take weeks to move it out of the way. Theyll likely have to remove some containers which means getting a crane vessel and something to load the containers onto. 

where i live tides are about 8 ft, bay of Fundy tides are 40 ft. 

i find this quite interesting to follow, lots of video available, this is a satellite photo of the stuck vessel.

Heard it said the cost per hour was $400 million. Insurance companies paying the tab, damage claims will be filed by waiting ships and shippers, wonder how many billions? Currently removing 35-50 ft of sand under the bow. I guess the 3-4 ft tide isnt going to work.

These things have a huge bulge on the bow for stability, you couldnt see it at all when it first hit the beach so its well buried.

These growing costs per hour remind me of when I worked at the auto plant. If the line shut down due to a parts shortage that vendor was charged several thousand dollars per hour. I remember a supplier arriving by helicopter with a couple of bins of parts to keep the line going until the (delayed) truck arrived.
