My "time machine fantasy" would be to go to Vegas around 1966, be all dressed up and driving a brand new Cadillac and see the Rat Pack live. What a time that would have been!

While Elvis is quite talented I was never a huge fan but since the time machine is already there I may as well take in a show.

My new wife and I were there in February 1972. Left Brandon and went to Disneyland and back in one week, stopping in Las Vegas for a few hours on the way home. Had a 1968 Pontiac that never gave us a problem the whole way.

I'm with you Todd, but as you point out you'd need to be well healed in 66, I heard some of those Rat Pack shows cost $15.

I often search you tube for Johnny Carson shows with the Rat Pack members, it is absolutely incredible the way these guys ad lib and get tons of laughs. Dean Martin and Sinatra together wouldn't be allowed on stage together today. We can't even mention the things they said to Sammy. Then after all the comedy they break into these classic songs that no one else can sing like them. Lets not forget their Mascots, Angie Dickinson, Shirley MacLaine, Juliet Prowse and even Marilyn Monroe.

The original Rat Pack was led by Humphrey Bogart and a group of A listers would casually meet at the home of Boggy and Bacall. Lauren Bacall is credited with coining the phrase Rat Pack after a return of the men from a Las Vegas drinking binge. Original members included Bogart, Sinatra, Judy Garland, Sid Luft, Cary Grant, Spencer Tracey and Katherine Hepburn and David Niven. After Boggy's death the torch passed to Sinatra.

One of my favorite Rack Pack videos is this one from (I believe) the Sands in 1964. Johnny Carson was the host. I'm blown away with the talent Sammy Davis Jr. had.

If you have the iHeart Radio phone ap there's a good station on there called "The Standard". They play a lot of songs by Sinatra, Sammy and Dean

I have an old cell phone that has been repurposed as a streaming device that I have hooked to my old Pioneer receiver. My wife and I enjoy listening on a Friday or Saturday night to unwind.

That is actually the only known recorded performance of the Rat Pack from June 20, 1965 performed in St. Louis for Sinatra's favourite Charity Dismas House, a halfway house for ex-convicts. The show was a precursor to pay for view and was transmitted to closed circuit TV throughout the country. Johnny Carson was a stand in for Joey Bishop who had a bad back and couldn't preform. The tape was found in a secretary's closet in Dismas house in 1997. It is an incredible time capsule  of entertainment.
