Newbie on board

Hello Canadian ponchos

New user here.

I am 49 years old and I am from Switzerland.

First I would like to apologize for my english. Unfortunately I have to use a translator and I hope you understand me anyway

I have already read a lot here and have now registered because I have been the proud owner of a 1963 Pontiac Laurentian 2-door for three days

I don't have a lot of experience with classic cars. And certainly not from Canadian pontiacs, because in Switzerland, these cars are only known in the classic car scene.

I already know some information about my Laurentian. The link to Vintage Vehicle Services here on the board was very helpful to me.

I still have a lot of questions, but they will follow later.

That's it from me for now.

Greetings from Switzerland

Welcome '63 from Canada's east coast.

We have another member on here that used to live in Switzerland, but now lives above Toronto. I'm sure he'll join in on the conversation.

Thanks to all for your warm welcome !

Nice to hear where you all come from.

Unfortunately I can't show any pictures of my Laurentian yet,

because I don't have any web space at the moment.

here they are...pics of my Laurentian.

It is not perfect.

Scratches in painting, painting not in original color (i think) and small rusty spots, will give me experience in restoring.

Also the front bench seat (torn open) and the steering wheel (Cracks) need to be revised.

Sweet!

How difficult is it to keep such a car on the road in Switzerland? The rules must be pretty strict.

Very nice car! It would be interesting to know more about your car, the history, under the hood, interior as it looks pretty sharp!

No pressure, but feature car candidate. Just saying.........

Thank you for your great feedback. I'm excited.

I don't know very much about the history of the car. The first seller is / was located in Toronto.
In 2017 the car was registered in the UK and in 2018, imported from another owner to Switzerland. In the same year there were two other owners. And now I've bought it.
Unfortunately, I don't know anything about the period from 1963 to 2017.

The car has approximately 100000 miles on the clock.
the V8 (283cui) under the hood runs very well. Cables and lines ect are mostly still original and should be replaced.

In Switzerland, older vehicles have to be inspected by the Road Traffic Office every two years. A good condition is important so that you can drive it for another two years.
With classic vehicles (30 years and older) you have the option to get veteran status. For this, the vehicle must be in top condition with original parts.
Veterans only need to be inspected every 6 years but are only allowed to drive 3000 km per year.
My Laurentian passed the inspection three weeks ago but without veteran status. Because of the paintwork, the tears in the fabric of the front seat bench and because the tire make is not original.
But hey, I'm allowed to drive it and have two years to work on veteran status

Welcome Laurent63.
What a beautiful car, love that color.
I remember back in those days you could get about 6 people into the drive-in theater for the price of one... Huge trunks...
