Looks like a nice deal if it's not rotten underneath.

I dunno... I see guys dissing six cylinders and 3-on-the-tree, but I kinda think... isn't this why we like old cars?  Old, crude, clunky, but unique and part of history?  Two less cylinders and one less gear and it's junk?

To each his own, I suppose.

Do you want it checked out Kevin? It's about 45 minutes from me. Our son is a teacher there, I could get him to take a peek at it too.

I get it.  Good deal if it's not rotten, though I've seen frames pop up here from time to time that would save you the trouble of stripping what looks like a decent car.  Good luck.

If we happen to get that way I'm curious enough about it to make me go look at it!

I think it's a great Sunday cruiser. If I had room, I'd be curious myself. I know it's a bit boring, but I love a 3 on the tree

Easy peezy. Personally, I like driving them. Not all cars have to be automatics, 3-speeds, 4-speeds or 5 and 6 speeds. I am lucky to have 1 of each (or more) here. When I do my next conversion, my last was putting a '96 5.0L Vortec from a pickup, a 5-speed from a '98 S-10 into my '78 Phoenix and adapting the hydraulic actuator from a 2001 Grand-Am, it will be a tremec 6-speed into a one of my '67-'70 b-body's. My '58 Yeoman has the LT1 and ZF 6-speed from a '94 'Vette.

As obvious, some people don't like them but that's what makes us to each their own.

They are easy as long as the linkage is adjusted propertly. If not they tend to bind between shifts. My 54 Chevy did this until I adjusted the linkage to the letter of the shop manual and it was great after that.

Rev the hell out of it in first and quick shift to second was when you found out something was amiss.

A good theft deterrent as most thieves would not know how to drive one one these.

More and more, a lot of people don't know how to drive standard manual shift cars anymore and less and less are built :(

The only one I've had was in a '60 Bel Air, and it did bind up occasionally (was too dumb to know about adjusting it properly).  I had great fun driving it as it was so different from the other cars I had at the time ('70 Coronet 318 automatic, '84 Honda CRX with 1.5 L? and 5-speed, '92 Mustang 5.0 coupe 5-speed).  Each of those cars were a different driving experience, but I used to say that the '60 Chev with its manual steering and 3-on-the-tree was the only one that was fun to drive slow (lol).  The six had enough torque to keep up with traffic but to do it with the manual steering and column shift you had to hone your technique and think ahead more than any other car I've driven.  Just driving it around town, and doing it well, was its own challenge.

I suspect most younger people don't even know a 3-speed manual on the column ever even existed, and probably just think they are automatics when they see them... unless they happen to notice the extra pedal.
