I've decided that my 22 year old GMC is worthy of a fresh up, its got 286,000 km. The engine was rebuilt at 210,000 and the tranny at 282,000. It runs well.

I struggled with a leaky bead on rear tire all winter so decided to start with the wheels and tires. After looking at a lot of options I decided to get the original GMC wheels refinished.

Carcone's in Aurora has the best reputation for this so I drove my 4 OG wheels up one Friday. They had a look at them and were not too happy to see so much corrosion and pitting. I decided to go ahead at the quoted $125 per wheel.

When I went to pick them up a week later, I was told that they turned out way better than they thought they would. They were all packed just like a new wheel in boxes and a separate box for the centres. I looked at one and  was amazed, literally factory fresh ! I highly recommend the service, real professionals and really decently priced.

I opted for new rubber too and I have had good Luck with Motomaster Total Terrains so got another set. Remarkably they were on sale for $115 !!! One of the few raised white letter tires in the OG size 245x75x16. The truck came new with raised white letters so I have always run them. All in with warranty $12, valve balancing install, refinished wheels I have just under $1,400 in this little venture.

This is new to me. I didn't actually think you could do much with a corroded aluminum wheel. Great to know this.

 They actually lightly machine the face, super cleaned the rear of the wheel and repaired the corroded beads. We thought the centres were plastic but turns out they were plastic covered with alloy so they cam out great too.

Thanks for the link.

There are two companies in my area and both are very hard to deal with.

Refinished wheels from the US are cheaper than them.

I will have to get a quote from this company.

Glad you stuck with them. I always thought they were a nice wheel when new.

 The light machining makes all the difference. I've had it done a couple of times on newer wheels that suffered road damage. Excellent process. Looks really good on your vehicle.

I had the wheels on my 2012 Charger refinished last year at Winnipeg Wheel. They were a mess and all four leaked air, especially in cold weather. Theyre like new and wont see winter again! I bought a set of steel wheels with winter tires so with a new set for winter and summer Ill probably be good for tires as long as I keep the car.
