 Yup Carl, you're right.

We had a spell about 15 years ag(not quite as hot) and my new neighbours who just moved in,

had AC put in their house within a couple of weeks moving here from Sarnia.. It really never got that hot again til now.

We always kept the house closed up for the day and opened all the windows a night.

That's worked nicely for us for 31 years. The heat is dry here, not like Windsor Ontario where we came from.

Lytton & Osoyoos BC are often Canada's hotspot.

Were having humidex in the high 30s Monday-Tuesday-Wednesday, peak at 37. Coast to coast heat. Was 5 here yesterday morning at 6, 26 with a humidex 33 today. That 5 was way below recent temps, weve had a very hot June.

I don't envy you guys at all. Once we hit 26C here in PEI I've had enough. The summers seem to be warmer than when I first moved here. I told my wife last year summer here was very "Ontarioish" but now I see Ontario hitting 40's with the humidex on a regular basis. I have no memory of humidex in the 40's when I lived in Ontario.

 Ten Years ago in Ontario

July 20,2011

In Ontario, Toronto is forecast to hit 38 C with a humidex of 48 Thursday.

Windsor, Ont., could hit 49 with the humidex.

I had a customer in Armstrong today, and the truck temp read 44C or 112F when I arrived at his house. And tomorrow I'm in Osoyoos which will be hotter!

Drove through Lytton, Cache Creek & Kamloops today - on my motorbike. No AC there!
Ambient air temp gauge on the bike topped out at 46.5 C in Kamloops. Felt like riding on a blast furnace.
Had a camelback pouch full of ice in the back armour pouch in my mesh motorcycle jacket. Made a huge difference.

Lytton 47.9 yesterday. Mahone bay, 34.7 yesterday, humidex in the low 40s. Helped a friend install a window ac unit while drinking beer. Forecast is for 17 and 18 Friday and Saturday, in the 30s until then.

Be watchful of your furry companions - lots of reports of dogs and cats succumbing to heat stroke out there. Even on the island! Hydrate freely and seek "cool spots" if your mind starts to go - like, you begin to admire passing Fords.
